We just wanted to wish you a special and warm Christmas time!! We know you are alone physically but not in our hearts! smilewinkgrin You have quite a huge family here even if we aren't close enough to hug you in person. So, here's the biggest HUG you've ever received from me, PaLady and your forum family!

(((((((((((((((HUG))))))))))))))))

Warmest Holiday Wishes!

Awwww, thank. This day is a hard one, try not to give it too much thought, but the relentless, "What are you doing, got all your Christmas shopping done, merry this, merry that" is challenging. I wasn't even going to look on the forum b/c I wanted to give myself a break, but, to my pleasant surprise, a message just for me. I have to admit, it made me smile with that warm feeling you get. So, thanks, for thinking of me.

Hi BigLucy....

It's late here... and it's another long night for me mad But just part of living w/ all this stuff, I guess!!

I take no offense to what you said at all...and I'm a conservative Christian... I know we aren't to discuss religion here, which I completely understand...and I'm not looking to change any minds about anything :) I just wanted to clarify one thing.... I, too, am tired of hearing all of the "end of world" things, too. But I do not believe the majority of Christians are believing the world will end in 2012. In fact, that would actually be contrary to most beliefs as Christians. As you know, that theory is based upon the ancient Mayans...their observation of the stars/galaxy...and scientific prediction. So, this really has nothing to do w/ Christian thought.

I don't want your thread to get deleted... but this is just info...my own opinions/interpretations...meant in a completely "just sharing information" way :)

Anyway, I hear your frustrations completely. We do a couple of things that are "out of the norm" in our own life...like have a big family, homeschool our older children and so forth...and there's always those that just don't understand. It can be frustrating, I know. Sometimes, I find myself (actually, many times these days, unfortunately)..."omitting" certain information when I meet people - just because I don't want to have to "explain". I didn't used to be like this... but I have so little energy these days...

I'm glad you kept busy and got some extra sleep. That's what I really need to be doing, and can't!!! Take good care, BigLucy.
Talk to you soon, Tina

Tina, you did a great job on your reply here to Big Lucy. You took the words right out of my mouth. I can see why religion should be kept off the forums here per say, I think the comment might be one that would ruffle some feathers, but you handled it quite nicely.
Were here for support. So that being said, I hope all of you have a pain free day.

BigLucy,
I very much cringe at the "what did you get?' question. People forget that some of us don't receive presents for a variety of reasons - at least not "bought" items. Our family has pretty much stopped exchanging among the adults, although sometimes people forget those of us who are single and without children don't have that nuclear family to share with us. So I'm growing accustomed to not receiving much. I brought pumpkin pies to my cousin and in turn he and his wife gave me a plate of homemade fudge (3 different kinds!). Now I'm not supposed to eat chocolate because of GI issues but I admit I did taste some at our small family gathering, as well as eat some pepperoni and a few other things I shouldn't have and paid for it the next night and morning with severe heartburn (if it wasn't a precancerous condition I'd just shrug my shoulders). Anyway, I froze the fudge so at least I couldn't eat it all at once! LOL

Two of my cousins did go together to buy me a trac phone. I can't afford a cell, and this last time when my phone was out for 4 days really bothered them. I have to say it was the first time in several years I've received a gift of that magnitude (yes, I consider that a "big ticket" item). I felt bad because I can't afford to respond in kind, and they all know it, but it was very generous of them and I must admit it's needed now that I have such an old car.

I don't know why I went off on all of this! Maybe it's just to add to the discussion sometimes we shouldn't assume about holidays. There are lots of variations.

Hugs to you Lucy!
