Hi all~

I thought I'd ask a question and see what you all thought of the idea. I also hang out in the fibromyalgia forum since that's where most of my pain comes from. One day last year I had this idea to make some awareness ribbons for the fibro forum and give them to anyone who wanted one. The other moderators offered to chip in a few bucks and away we went. I ended up ordering them printed and on a roll, uncut. Then I cut them, 'glued' them into the "ribbon shape" and added a gold pin. They are very inexpensive and have been a great success over there.

I have been thinking about doing a similar thing in the Chronic Pain forum but thought I best see if anyone would be interested. Also I'm not sure what words or saying to put on the ribbons. These have been approved by the owner of the site but he did ask that we made sure that people know these are a little gift from the moderators and not from Healing Well itself. I've send ribbons from as close as 10 miles from me and as far away as the Orkney Islands, France and Australia! Fibro and Chronic Pain know no bounds.

So my first questions is ... are any of you interested in receiving a ribbon? No charge...it's just a gift that connects us as a forum family. And, if there is an interest then what should go on the ribbon??? Here's a link to the ones we had made for the fibro folks. You can see about how much type can go one a ribbon.

Feel free to respond with your opinion either way. If there is an interest then I'd be happy to get it going, but if not then it's fine also.

Thanks for your input!

I think that is an EXCELLENT idea! I have said all along that I consider all the people here on the BP forum as my family! I can't think of a better way of expressing our ties and connection that we all share with one another! So count me In!

Wow, awesome response! For Tammy and others with Fibro, we've had the ribbons available for nearly a year so if those who are part of that forum just let me know and I'll get you one right away.

Now, we have an offer on the table of having Buttons instead of Ribbons. I need input on this from everyone. Screaming Eagle has the capability of making buttons from prints of any kind. This would increase the number of words we could likely get on them. If you've looked at the Fibro ribbon you can see 4 words are all we can fit on. We could design something with text and a ribbon on the button if folks would like that idea. Or if you would prefer to have the ribbon that's fine too. We do need to choose one way as doing both wouldn't be very cost effective.

BTW, thanks to all for offers of help with this project. I have your name burned in my little brain..lol You may just be asked to help!

Hugs,
Chutzie

Chutz,

That sounds awesome! I really like the way the fibro ones turned out. I've been thinking all day about what a good catch-phrase would be. I haven't come up with one yet, but I'll let you know if I do!

Looks like there interest is here to get this going. I will get things going on the ribbons and Screaming Eagle is working on a design for some buttons also.

Here's one more question...

I've searched on the internet as long as I could stay awake and I haven't found an official ribbon color for Chronic Pain. There are some for chronic pelvic pain and other types but not just Chronic Pain. So, the questions is what color should we choose?? Often purple is the 'generic' color used for ribbons and those are lovely, but everyone here would prefer some other color then we can do that instead. Also, we've had a couple of really good suggestions for words or a 'slogan' to put on the ribbons. We need to find one gel on something.

One other thought...maybe we should start a campaign for a Chronic Pain color?!!??? I'm not quite sure how to go about it but I have a few ideas and an available web site to promote it. Nothing to sell, not a forum...nothing but telling people of Chronic Pain and of Healing Well also, of course.

So opinions and ideas are needed...please! This fibro brain just isn't as creative as it used to be...lol To give you some ideas of colors and style, here's a link to a place to buy awareness ribbons. ribbonwarehouse.com/awareness_ribbons.html

Either put your ideas here or email them to me. Just click the little lit envelope under my name over there <--- and let me know your thoughts and ideas. This sounds like great fun!

Chutz, and All....I'm going to wait on the Buttons, untill the dust settles on the color pick and the such....not in a big Hurry here...and I'm sure we won't be able to make everybody happy. I'm a hoping to have more than one selection to offer to those who want them...and will try to have a website set up where you all can view them. If  anybody wants one, and they are a member on the CP forum..I will send them for free...and on my dime! Just give me some time to get it together...and the surgery may put it on hold for a while also.

Well, I'm putting in my vote for the forest green color ribbon with either white or silver lettering. It's a shame we're not even recognized as a legitimate concern when ribbon colors exist for "Responsible use of public lands for the benefit of all recreationists" ; the recent earthquake in Haiti; Spain's campaign for the release of Basque terrorists' kidnap victims ; Australian 2009 Victorian Bushfire Campaign; and even the 2009 Iranian Election Protests. Now don't get me wrong...these are all legitimate concerns but why isn't Chronic Pain in there somewhere. Because no one has pushed for it??? Maybe it's time. I know I'm getting on a soap box here but maybe it speaks of how others view those of us who's lives are forever changed by daily pain. In my very humble opinion all or any of these concerns above pale in comparison to living even one day with our common disorder. I have no idea how to push this or how to get us noticed but this girl is going to start rattling door and windows or whatever it takes to get this problem noticed.

Yep, I'm off my trolley, have been all my life but it gives me leeway for all kinds of behavior.

I'll put a vote in for your color arrangement, Chutz. I like green :-).

As for a saying, I've been ummmm rather uncreative lately. I need to give my brain a good jump start. Maybe starting classes on Tuesday will give me a good kick in the butt. I'll try to brainstorm something, but no promises.

Thanks skeye...I appreciate your response. I've been looking around to see what can be done about 'declaring' a color. I have a few ideas but we'll have to see what pans out.

Hugs,
Chutzie

what a wonderful idea!

The green and silver sounds pretty and not overly feminine or masculine :-)
