... as if most nights weren't bad enough, my pain is horrendous tonight & I know I won't be able to fall asleep, let alone stay asleep in this condition.

I sure wish my surgeon's office would get it together & submit my appeal already! I finally got all the paperwork in, but I can't seem to get ahold of the lady in charge of my appeal to let her know & double check that she got everything I faxed. She is always on the phone when I call & then she never calls me back! I must have called 10 times over the last two weeks. It is so FRUSTRATING! I'd just submit the appeal myself, but in order to do that I need a letter from the neurosurgeon, so I'd still need to speak with the lady. What more can I do? It is out of my hands. I just desperately want to get this appeal over with so I can hopefully have the surgery and hopefully find some relief!!

Someone send the sandman my way, please! I'm just so exhausted. I haven't really slept in days; you all know the routine. It's going to be another long, rough night. Anyone else in the same boat tonight?

    Dear Skeye,
Good evening. *warm huggs* I am so sorry you are still awake. I know you have very busy scheduals to keep up with and you need your rest. Add in the extra stress of the appeal process and you must be terribly overwhelmed. *hugg* Have you mentioned if you are taking a sleeping aide yet? I thought you mentioned it once? It might be time to increase it or try something new. Reguardless, it doesnt help much now, and for that I am terribly sorry. I do hope you cant find something "relaxing or old classic movie" to watch on TV until you drift to sleep. Stay strong and know you are in our hearts here.

And sorry I could not travel both

Hi, Skeye,
I might be in the boat next to you. It's not so much my pain keeping me up but some kind of stomach/intestinal virus I seem to have picked up. I was lying on the bed sleeping for about 4 hours already, shivering and all that jazz. I got up to put pj's on and try to see if I could put something in my stomach that's light (have hardly eaten today) and head back to bed. But of course I came here to check out posts!

Appeals and all that goes with them are so darned frustrating! And I understand about leaving messages and people not calling back. I know they're busy, but....

Are you just waiting to confirm that they received everything, or that they've sent everything in? Maybe you could leave her a message you'd be happy to pick up everything (including neurosurgeon's letter) and fax it is yourself. Sometimes when I can't get to the person I want, I call someone else in the office, like the receptionist and ask what you can do to confirm everything's been sent in. Do you have a time deadline? I know that's why I always like to send stuff in myself, but some doctor's offices won't let you. When I was sending in the applications for the pharmaceutical programs, I brought everything to my doc's office all filled in. Just needed his signature. And of course it got sent to the pharm. co w/o his sig. and I received it back at my home, had to go back in when he was there and politely ask if I could wait until he signed it. It meant one of my meds would be delivered late.

Anyway.....if I run into the Sandman I'll send him your way! Is a Sandwoman an ok sub? LOL

Wow...we could be having a party, for all the wide awake people here tonight!

skeye, I'm sorry you're in such pain that it's keeping you awake. I find that no matter what I take, medication wise, I'm generally up between 1am and 4am...but at least I don't have to worry about work or kids in the morning.

Sleep is the one thing we need to help manage our pain, and the one thing that often seems to be out of our reach. It doesn't seem fair somehow. I am sending sleepy thoughts out to you, and to everyone else here who is up, for whatever reason.

Sweet dreams,

Conditions: Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pelvic Pain, FAI, Reynauds, IBS, Surgical Adhesions, Ophthalmic Migraines
(plus physically unable to vomit due to Nissen, and I have extremely tiny veins...a joy for blood work or IV's)
Surgeries: Appendix, Uterus, Nissen Fundoplication for GERD, Left Ovary, Gallbladder, Right Ovary, TVT
Medications: Oxycontin, Tramacet, Cymbalta, Nortriptyline
Other: Vitamin D, Multi-Vitamin

Well I glad I wasn't alone last night, although I'm sorry that you all were awake too! Pam is exactly right, sleep is something we desperately need to heal, yet it's hard to come by!

Dani, I have been on sleeping aids in the past, but like everything else, they don't work for me. I'd take them at 9 pm and still be wide awake at 5 am. We finally gave up even trying.

Palady, I'm sorry you have a stomach bug! yuck! I hope you are feeling better this morning! Hopefully it is just one of those 24 hr things. I wish I could just go over to the surgeon's office & pick everything up, but they are a good 3 hrs away & I'd never be able to get there while they are still open without missing a day of classes. Plus 3hrs is really pushing the limit of what I can drive. My eyes are pretty much shot after a hour and a half. I'm sure she'll get back to me sooner or later, I just hope that it is sooner rather than later.
