Ok, so I am in SO much pain. My upper back is killing me. I haven’t had any more than 10 hours sleep since Friday. I have been up at 3am every day crying in pain. I go to the living room so I don’t wake my husband, and I just cant take it anymore! I am stretching, taking hot baths, cold packs, and pain pills… none of which help at all.

I got up at 3 again today and am trying to work. This is not good! I really want to apply for SSD, but cannot afford to no have any income while I go thru the waiting game.

I just don’t know what do go anymore!

Hi, Donna and Cat,
I'm sorry you're both feeling so lousy. Donna, I know you were concerned about the trip. Was there something you did activity wise, sleeping on a poor bed, etc. that you think caused your flare? I ask because a lot of times for me if I do something that causes problems it can lead to some muscles spasms that need to be worked out, and I need to target that area with the heat, etc. and see if I can get the muscle to relax. Now this certainly isn't the only cause of a flare, by any means, but if you could figure out what made it worse, maybe taking a sick day or two you can give it some time to heal.

Then again, with all you have in your signature, those are serious issues, and all I can say is none of us want to or can afford to stop working and wait for the SSD. I sure understand. But sometimes our bodies give us no choice (or sometimes an employer helps the process along).

Anyway, I wondered if either of you were taking anything to help with depression, because this CP sure wears us down in many ways. Maybe I've asked this before, and if so please forgive my memory (or lack thereof).

Hugs,

PaLady

i am on disability but just got the friendly notice to re-evaluate to see if I am still disabled. They want to know if i have seen my doc since Feb of '08 and gave me space for 3 dates. How do I fill in once or twice monthly in those 3 little spaces? Or the many visits to the ER or the surgeries, cryoprobes and nerve blocks...
I do take meds for depression..sometimes there aren't enough .

Unfortunately all my problems are "in my head"..figuratively and literally.

Actually, what triggered it was the crappy RV mattress.
And then coming home to our crappy matterss.
We are going to buy a new one this weekend/.
And I am currently taking prozac, but dont think its helping....

I did take yesterday off to try to rest, but it obviously wasnt enough and I have no sick time either, so I am stuck. I am wondering how long it would actually take for me to get approved for SSD...I know you never really know for sure...

Donna,
I'd never survive without a decent mattress. Sometimes it's why I'm leary of even going to visit my cousin, because I know I'm going to have to "pay", let alone going strange places where you have no idea what the mattress is like! I sure hope you can get a good one soon. There's a thread running now about tempurpedic mattresses (I have one and love it, but you don't need to get the most expensive model).

Oh, SSD, there's lots of new and old threads on that, and while some people seem to get lucky and get it on the first try, most people have to wait months if not years. It isn't for the faint of heart, that's for sure. But I don't think I've met anyone on the CP forum who really WANTED to be disabled, but sometimes we hit that brick wall. Or at least our bodies do.

Anti-depressants often need to be adjusted over time. Sometimes doses need to be increased, or a new anti-depressant found, so tell your doctor about your mood along with your pain levels. I would be a mess without the effexor, but it took a few tries to get to the right med and the right dose.

Maybe you should put a call into your doctor's office and see if you can get in.
Other than that I wish I knew what to says...Sure hope you can get a low and I mean a very low pain day soon..
soft healing hugz coming your ways..
((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Donna))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

one suggestion I had got from a guy that runs a sleep study clinic, was "read the phone book in bed, with only a little light on, turning your alarm clock away from the bed and keeping the tv off in the room", maybe ask your hubby to sleep in another room for the night , as all these distractions can add to your not getting sleep and reading the white pages in the phone book is supposed to be pretty boring as to make you fall asleep
good luck

Well, I was hoping last night would be different...
I took my Ambien and decided that I would sleep in the living room on the floor.
That way I could toss & turn & stretch without waking my hubby. Plus maybe the hard floor would help.
Fell asleep around 9:30, woke up at 11:45, streched and tried to get comfy,..
Fell back asleep till 2:10am and was in horrible pain. I took a pain pill, streched and then laid there in agony. I finally decided I couldnt take it anymore, turned on the TV and just stayed up. My alarm went off at 4:50 so it was time to wake the kids and get ready for work.... I am so exhausted!
I know I need to call the Dr, I just feel like such a whiner!
Thanks for listening to this whine from me again...

YOU ARE NOT WHINIG!!!! I used to use that word alot until I finally realize you are just telling it like it is. Look at your signature line and all those legit troubles you have and yet you pick yourself up every day and get on with it. You deserve a pat on the back and a great big hug. Please try to get in with your doc and let him/her know whats going on. I'm having the same up and down at night time even though I take the ambien as well. Maybe I take a look at night one of these time to see if your around. I sure am tired of watching old reruns of "Criminal Minds" or "Lar and Order" at 3 am. ;o)

Well, last night I took a hot shower, had my hubby massage me, took a pain pill, muscle relaxer and then at bed took 2 ambien....guess what... UP AT 2AM AGAIN! I am so sick of this. We even went and bought a new tempurpedic bed yesterday, but it dosent get delivered until Sunday.
I also called my Dr and I think we are going to start injections. They are supposed to call me today to confirm & schedule.
I am really scared to have the injections, but at this point I am desprate. Espically since the pain pills are not working anymore, and I only have 2 left anyways and today is Friday. I dont know what I am going to do!
Thanks again for listening....

Hello Snob! Good to see you again, but I'm so sorry that your in horrible pain. You have received some excellent advice here! I wanted to make sure to follow up on PaLady's comment about the Beds. She is right you don't have to buy the most expensive model, and I fear that you may be looking for a miracle with the bed purchase.

It will take at least 24hrs for it to warm up after it is delivered to your home, and then, it may take up to two weeks for you to get used to it. I personally love mine, but my wife is still thinking about it. Also, make sure you walk all over it when it comes in, as it helps to open up the cells on it.

I don't really think your DR has you on the correct pain meds for you, if your in that kind of pain. Call him and tell him what is happening to you, and see if there is anything they can give you to help take the edge off of it. I have been where you are and it is absolutely miserable to say the least.

We wish you the best, and so hope you find some relief soon. I feel for you, I truly do! Hang in there.
