Hey there. Is there anyplace one suffering from chronic pain can go online to simply vent, and read and empatize with others who suffer 24/7? Some days I just feel like I'm all alone here..and I know I AM NOT. Please allow me an escape valve that, if only subconciously, might let me feel a little better about my lot. No cry-baqby, stuff. Just a little anger, a little "pain fellowship", a lot of gratitude for both ends. Thanks.

Hi, PainFreak,
Welcome to the Chronic Pain forum of Healing Well. Is there anyplace you can go to vent to others who suffer from and understand CP? Yep - you've found it! This is the best support group on the internet, IMHO. The only thing I suggest is that you read the forum rules so that you know what the limits are. It is a family friendly site, so when we vent we can't always say exactly the words that might be in our head! :-)

If you read through many of the posts you'll find there's periodic venting going on, as well as sharing of experiences and opinions. We're not medical professionals, though, and aren't here to give medical advice - but venting - absolutely ok!

There is also a chat room you can find if you click on the link above. There's a scheduled chat at 9pm EST on Thursday nights, but you can go into the chat room anytime and often you can find someone there - but not always.

Others will probably add to this, but it's not a chat so you may not get immediate responses.

Again, welcome!

PaLady

Hello PainFreak! Well I guess this is the place! Welcome to the Chronic Pain forum! We have wonderful supporting members, and they are very knowledgeable. Please feel free to look around, and make sure you read the Chronic Pain 101 at the top the Home page to our forum. Also, I ask all new members to please read the forum rules! That is important!

It is OK to rant a little here now and then, but be careful how you do it. This is indeed a good place to share your frustrations with other members here, and to learn more about you condition as well.

Can you please tell us a little more about yourself and what is causing your chronic pain? We are here to help you, and all of us, are here because we suffer from CP. So you are quite right, that you are not alone.

We look forward to getting to know you, and please visit here often, and we can always use the help when you can contribute in anyway.

Hi Pain Freak,

Welcome to Healing Well's CP forum. This forum is for people suffering with CP and trying to live one day at a time with this roller coaster madness called chronic pain. We are a very supportive group here and pretty tight knit, meaning we understand and know you are never alone.  With that being said I hope you will hang around and be an active member. We do learn from one another. We ask all new members to read the "forum rules" and abide by them. CP 101 is an excellent source of info that you may want to check out. We feel very fortunate to have this site dedicated to CP issues.

Just understand that you are not alone in this madness, there are a lot of us in the same boat as you. Everyone has a different story to tell. In many ways the old saying "misery loves company" is quite true when dealing with CP.

Again, welcome aboard and perhaps to you will find here what you are searching for. You will have to be the judge of that. Hope you have a low pain day, whatever that is.

I would liek to know is talking about pain in chat forbidden, or is there an undertood rule that you dont talk about it? I know we need to escape pain soemtimes, but sometimes I personally would like/need to talk about it. I tend to get ignored when I bring it up (pain) and I kinda avoid chat because of it

just wondering if I am missing something!!

Merrygirl as far as I know you can talk about pain in the chat room. I admit I have only been there once recently, I had too hard of a time keeping up because everyone was talking about different things at the same time and it was more than my old brain could handle.

Maybe they have changed it up in chat on Thursday nights and I just don't know it, lol. it will be interesting to see what the others say about this.

Hi, Merrygirl,
I don't want to get PainFreak's thread off track, but I don't think talking about pain in chat is forbidden. I rarely go to chat, so I don't know if anyone decides for the night on a topic or the group decides that night not to talk about pain, but as far as I know the chat is open to any topic. Chutz tends to be there to facilitate, so she might be good to ask. I seriously doubt it's forbidden. The only place I know we try to avoid it is in the koffee klatch thread.

I'd suggest telling the group when you're in chat that you need to talk about something and ask for their support. We all have those nights when the pain takes center stage.

Hi Painfreak,

Yup, you've found the place! HW is a fabulous site for support and encouragement. The members here are very experienced and offer great advice. But one of the best things about this place is that others listen and understand like no one else does. Please feel free to vent to us any time & chime in on the other threads too! If you stick around, you'll see what a wonderful place this can be!

Merry -- nope, talking about pain on chat is anything but forbidden! It just so happens that a lot of times we get talking about other stuff. It may be completely random or related. It's nice to get away from all the talk about pain sometimes! But certainly do feel free to bring up any topic at any time!

hugs to you both,
Skeye

Dear PainFreak , As a newer member here who didn't know much about the rules I wrote new topics that were all about my pain , my frustration about my pain , my hoplessness about my pain and how I hated my pain .I found only empathy , was encouraged to vent , was asked how people could help , was told about pain therapy(a great concept ) and I found an attitude here that has kept me coming back and made me proud to be a part of this forum . If you have acess to a pain therapist , do call and seek help they can guide and enlighten you on how your pain can effect how you feel , best of luck !!

Painfreak, feel free to vent every now & then. I know I've done my share of it here. Let me say welcome to the CP forum and hope you can be an active member here. We all learn from one another so don't be scared to pop in whenever you like.
