hi everyone,
had my follow up with dr.today. my pain is coming from the L4/L5 area. There is a small tear on the lining of the disk, i think that is what he said. there is inflammation/irritation at the l4 nerve. he is going to do a 2nd nerve block next week to see if it gives more pain relief and for a longer peroid of time. he says PT would be a big help.
take care, all

Hello Pommom! Is this what they call an annular tear? My sister has this as well, and is very painful for her. She said it can heal on its own, but takes quite some time to do so. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

I'll wish you good luck with those injections..and hope you can get relief.
Make sure you get hooked up with a good physical therapist and not one that will be pushy, it's your body so if
they push you too hard they can do more harm than good..my PT takes it from my cues as to what I can
or cannot do each day, plus the ultra sound after is so helpful...So please make sure to ask around to
get a good PT...it can help.when done right.
I hope you get a low pain day soon, and keep us posted...

Good evening Pommom! I thought that might be what it was called. Please be very patient with the healing process with this type of tear, as it can take a long, long time to heal. My sister just went to see her surgeon to see what he thought, and he said as long as there was progress in healing, he would not yet suggest the surgery to fix it. My sister also suffers from the same as I with DDD, but not on the same scale as mine, or as long a time that I have, but her pain is so much worse because of the annular tear.

I think she has torn several of them right in a row. Good luck to you, and your healing, and be very careful in your daily activity's. We are so glad you have shared this with us here on the forum, but more importantly, Thank You for asking questions! The members here usually step right up to the plate to help. I hope you get to feeling better, and please be careful with that tear.
