Well, the PA pulled my wires today. No problems. She wants me to do a different neurostimulator trial that will only stimulate my lower back. However... she won't sign off on anything until I am cleared by a neurologist.

Yikes... ok... so... the day of the procedure, I may or may not have had a petit mal seizure when I got home. According to my son, I was staring off at nothing, didn't answer him when he called me, and started to fall over. He caught me, and he and my other son were yelling. (Son #2 later told me that 911 was dialed, but he hadn't pressed "talk" yet.) This happened to me once before, about a decade ago. Doctor sent me for a test, and the best guess was that I had a one-off seizure due to exhaustion and that it would probably never happen again. I have had nothing vaguely resembling this happen since that time... until last week. rolleyes

Gah! So... I have an appointment last week with a neurologist. Any idea of what's going to happen or how he's planning on figuring out what happened to me? Nah... I'm not nervous or anything... why in the world would you think something like that??? confused ... ;-)

well first off, write down everything you remember that happened and take it along with a list of questions to your neurologist appointment.
You might be sent off for a mri testing, and a neurologist will usually asks you a lot of questions. A neurologist is very thourgh and it's a long appointment, so you might be
very exhausted afterwards, so make sure you have a driver. Good Luck to you and I'll say a prayer for you in hopes that it was not a seizure...

Thanks! I'm having my son write down everything he remembers. I'm going to give that to the neurologist along with the pile of forms I've already downloaded that I need to fill out. I'm putting everything on a clip board with a sheet of blank paper- as I think of questions, I'm going to put them there.

I'm ok with MRIs- I've already had two because of my back.

This should be interesting, that's for sure.

I concur, you need to write down what happened before and during your seizure. Be sure to include the times that each event happened. Also write down as much as you know about the one 10 years ago.

As far as what tests, if any, the nuero might order: MRI, EEG, and a full seizure test where they try to induce one to see what is going on, are some of the most likely, but who knows for sure.
2 confirmed herniated lumbar discs. Spinal Arthritis. Spinal Stenosis, diabetic peripheral nueropathy.

I need to dig through my old medical records (I thought we were moving, so I asked for copies of everything) and see what's in there about the first episode. I can't remember the exact diagnosis, but it was basically "you had a seizure, and it will probably never happen again."

My son is typing his version of what happened last week even as I type this. I'm also going to add my MRI reports (so he knows why I was having the trial done in the first place).

I really appreciate everyone's thoughts and ideas. Thanks!
