Dear friends , I am seeing a surgeon on the 30th of March , as the woman who was my physical therpist arranged for me to see this surgeon who when I was in the hospital for a week in feb.2010 came to see me and said he would do my operation .I don't want to get to up or down about it . I'm living my life better now with a walker than I have in years .Its (my condition) has forced me to , either that or crawl further into a hole which I decided not to do .So I'm out of that isolation have friends in person and dear friends online , its wonderful yes .But of course I do want to walk too so please say a prayer for me that things go well , I've so much good I want to do helping people and animals in shelters , my family and friends and anyone I can .I'll do this regardless of course but a year of this pain and limitation has been tough , I think I'll have pain from here on and I can handle that , but walking would be great , I hope its in Gods plan for me .My knee and leg hurt so I'm hoping the hip surgery will rectify all of it . Thanks So Much my Friends , Mikel

Do keep us informed about your upcoming doctors appt. That would be great if he will do the hip replacement. I'm sure it would alleviate alot of your pain. You desperately need a break!!

My dearest friends , I thank you for your support , I confess to being very , very, scaredI'm sure I'll need a double replacement and ok thats not uncommon , for the first time I felt a twinge of pain in my left hip the ''strong'' side .The right side is a forgone conclusion but my left leg and hip has been really doin all the work fo months and I knew sooner or later it would start to tell .It couldn' keep up forever although I hoped it would , so I beleive now that is the case although I have no x-rays the surgeon who would'nt do the surgery because of t-cells mentioned I'd probably need it at some point as there were signs in th x-ray that although strong at the time , the left also showed  signs of detioration .OK fine I just want him to do it , I just want help .Please oh please let this happen and let it it be safe , Oh my God , please help me be strong and ready .Thank you for listening and bearing with me friends , I couldn't have made this far without your support , I love you all very much , Mikel

Mikel,

My Grandmother (age 84 and then the other age 94) and my Cousin both had hip replacement and miraculously the pain was gone.  Surprisingly it was a smooth recuperation, both are over 5 yrs post op and still doing well.  My Granny turned 100 in January, her only real problem is bone on bone knees which she refused to do after the hips.  She's living regrets for not doing the knees, she nor any of the Dr.'s throught she'd still be here.

Hope this is your answer!!

Thanks mom , Patti , yeah Patti my momof 85 just had a partial hip replacement and is walking with a walker now , and my brother in law just had knee replacement surgery and is in rehab recuperating .My brother had a double hip replacement two years ago and is walking fine too . Of course none of them are hiv+ or have used methedone for years like me , so I'll be in for extra risk regardless .I'm scared very scared but I'm going to go ahead with it as soon as I can , so I hope you my friends at HealingWell won't mind the future posts from a frightened Mikel seeking solace from his friends . Thanks in advance .

Mikel,

I'm praying for a quick and painless recovery! I really have a good feeling for you on this. They have come a long way with this surgery. Have a friend who had it done and just wanted to say- don't get frustrated at the beginning...stay with it and keep up your physical therapy. My friend is now mowing lawns, and walkin' white sandy beaches!
Take Care!
