I don't know its as if events conspire against me The past two weeks I've done a lot to try to improvee my situation and the cards I've been dealt . Then I get the opportunity to talk to a surgeon on the 30th of march , tuesday and this is what I had wanted .Then my hip and knee start hurting very badly and now my left hip which has been bearing the great majority of my weight and stress is hurting for the first time , its scaring me to death .I fully beleive I need a double hip replacement  but if they decide to wait or delay I really will be in for incredible pain as well as virtually no mobility and I'm scared stiff . I mean I started seeing a pain therapist , I've started studying my veterinary asst course again , I've made long (3hour) drives to visit my parents an family , I've visited my brother a lot and now with a visit to the surgeon imminent  my right knee/lower leg is in a very painful state and undiagnosed as to why it is the way it is .I am so scared right now, I want to walk naturally again so very , very badly . I'm so very , very afraid i won't be able too`!! I know I shouldn't be making up stories about how things will go and I'm fighting hard not to worry myself , by reaching out to you my friends .Thanks s

You are not alone my friend. I understand!

I'm sorry you are having to suffer so and I wish there were a cure for the problems you face. You seem to be a very special person, with the ability to do for others and to overlook your own suffering. Then it seems to come down on you with a real bang. If you read you post again, you will see that you have done more than your body will allow. Rest Mikel...give you body time to catch up with you. Give your mind and your body a well deserved day of pampering. Please don't think I am minimizing your pain....I am not! I only wish for you a pain free, relaxing day where you are not consumed by the worries of your future. Whatever it is that gives you the most pleasure and relaxes the mind.....take time to do it today. You owe this to yourself.

I wish you all the best!

Potsie , retiredmom , thanks for the caring encouragement .Mom , I think your right , I did too much because I was feeling decent for a change and decided to push myself and my body pushed back . I can't control  the other stuff like what going on with my leg or what the surgeon will say , I have to maintain pespective  and just be the space for what will be , I, need to do what I can an then accept what happens outside myself .Sometimes I feel so stupid after upsetting myself , Darn leg is itching , geez . Thanks again for your words and taking the time to write to me , it does help .

Mikel...

I hate to hear you feeling so down...but understand it completely. Through my own experiences w/ health issues, I just know by now that there ARE going to be bad days...where you just need to say "this sucks" and accept it. I feel your frustration completely, Mikel. It's so hard to have something like this, where you have no control... don't know what the future holds... etc...

I wish I could take it away from you...I would if I could!!

I just agree w/ what's been said... rest... take care of yourself and your needs... and reach out, as you've done.

Hugs,
Tina

   Dear Mike,

Good morning *warm huggs* I am so glad you stopped by. Do you have alot planned for today? I hope not! Your body has been going going all week, and needs a little rest!

I can see plain as day you are frightened to no end about seeing the surgeon. I am sorry you are going through so much termoil about it. Honestly, who could blame you? Time and time again you get to the same point, just to be let down and left in pain. So, your anxiety and worry is completly understandable! But, try hard to occupy yourself with other things! (I know easier said than done) You don't know what will happen, and youd on't know if this one is like all the others. So take a deep breath, it will be okay. *hugg* Just try hard to let your body rest today. You have been very busy as of late and I am sure the excess pain is only making the worry you feel, be amplified.

When you see the surgeon, by all means, mention the excess tenderness, pain and soreness your other hip that you are experiencing. It is important the surgeon know the amount of strain the other hip is enduring as a result of doing all the work for the other. Hopefully, he will understand the importance to restoring your quality of life.

You really should have a full once over for all your physical pain and aches when you are done with the surgeon. Do you have a general primary care physician? Having a general check up is a must! They arnt just for flu shots and acne ya know. *hugg*

Now, I do not by any means want to scold you. But!! You need to plann "rest days" once every three days or so. Its important you give your body some much needed rest and recuperation. It wont do you any good to be physically taxed and out of gas each week. Give your body a much needed "re charge" my friend!

I have to get going, or I am afraid I will chatt away the entire day! I am so sorry I missed you in chatt last night. I do hope you have a restful, relaxing day. Take care friend and stay strong!

*warmest huggs*
       dani

Like maybe every third day , with 2 days rest in between  , yes that sounds good , I think that would be effective for me . Thank you all  , my beautiful friends , how great it is to know you and be able to reach out to your wisdom and caring .I love you all ! Mikel

Mikel99 -

I agree that you've probably overdone it and need to pace yourself.

I have PTDJS in my right ankle (along with 11 pins, a plate & a nifty bone spur). On my good days I have a pronounced limp. That means that I put alot of responsibility on my left leg to take up the slack. I've found that wearing my cowboy boots with heavy socks allows me to walk without a cane. BUT... I frequently forget myself and walk too much.

When I take my boots off, the pain is really almost unbearable, and I sometimes have to use 2 canes because of it. At times like that, my left leg takes alot of punishment. So much so, in fact, that my hip joint sometimes aches for several days afterward. However, when I remember not to overdo, I don't have the hip pain.

Take it easy. Give yourself some time off. DO mention it to the Dr.

Good luck Tuesday.

Thanks annie , and thank you too Elin you relate almost exactly to what i'm going thru , you know you get feeling good and get too happy and do too darn much .Its just so good feeling somewhat normal , but I learned my lesson .Its supposed to rain for the next couple of days here which isn't good for pain but hey its only water .Gotta do what ya gotta do and i will albeit it at a slower pace with reason and common sense as my guide .And thanks Dani girl for your advice I think a general full physical is in order for sure  . Thanks friends !  Mikel

I too will vote for over doing it...but then I'm not one to blame you for things I do too. Another thing that I think might help is try to put the worrying aside. Worry and stress are killers...way more than the problems you have with your hips and joints. They serve no purpose and the always increase pain and make things worse. So, don't worry she says! Hahahaaa...sure, easy to say but how do I stop the worry??? Mikel, I don't have the answer for that but for me I do a couple of things. One is to learn all I can about what's going on...without going overboard! Then I keep busy with other things I enjoy doing. If those negative thought try to creep back into your head just toss them out and replace them with the warm thoughts of all of the people here who care very much that you are OK! We're always here for you and will be when you need us. That's what this group is all about.

So try to set the worry and fear aside...OK? Look at the good that's coming your way. You are getting that visit with the surgeon and that's a great thing. If they have to do 2 then so be it. If they have to put it off then explain that they will need to do a better job at controlling your pain until they can do the surgery. Advocate for YOU!. Wasn't it Harry Truman who said, "walk softly and carry a BIG stick"? That's the new Mikel! Talk calmly and confidently to your doctors but don't be afraid to put in your thoughts and your needs also. YOU are hiring them...not the other way around.

Keep us posted on the visit!

Thank you Chutzie , By the way this is a second opinion , the first surgeon is the one who wants a certain cd4 count , so I am out there seeing another surgeon and I'm trying to see more just in case , however it seems surgery like justice moves slowly , not so my HW friends , you are there right away to help me whenever I've needed you .Thank you my family and I will be there for you just as fast !!
