Let's try a different sort of word game and you might have to look up a word for this one...or maybe not. How many kinds of phobias can we list? There are some that not only sound like a funny word but the fear itself is hilarious to many of us. Like..

Dromophobia is a fear of crossing the road ~ OK?!???

Unatractiphobia is a fear of ugly people. Now there's a worthwhile fear...lol

and my all time favorite~~

Phobatrivaphobia is a fear of trivia about phobias!

So if you already know a strange one then go ahead and post it. Otherwise just go to your favorite search engine, I usually just use Google, and enter 'phobias' and see what you can find. Share several if you like...

Chutz

Arachibutyrophobia is a fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth.

*shiver*

Arachnophobia ~

Arachnophobia or arachnephobia (from the Greek: ἀράχνη, aráchnē, "spider" and φόβος, phóbos, "fear") is a specific phobia, the irrational fear of spiders.

Gave myself the heebie-geebies just thinking about spiders!

oh boy...this one is SO true for me:

A fear of Dentists- Dentophobia

I am so terrified of dentists, I have to take ativan just to go in for a regular cleaning. If I need any type of work done beyond that, I have to have intravenous sedation so I'm totally out of it. I once went to the dentist's office to drop off some papers and I was crying in the car before I went in there.

My dentist and her team are amazing and treat me like gold...they never make me feel stupid or lame or anything. I can't remember anything in particular that caused this fear...I've probably blocked it out. I just know that the mere thought of having to go makes me break out in a cold sweat....and even as I'm typing this, I feel stressed out. cry

lol...that is funny Mikel...Pain-o-phobia. I guess we all can understand that one but neither of us broke the rule on not using the 'P' word cause it was part of another word...hahaha

Pam... I'm so glad you found a dentist that is kind and compassionate. I used to have a fear almost as bad as yours until I was forced to go to a dentist when I had a tooth break. I refused to go to my old dentist and found this new guy in the phone book by reading their advertisements. He's wonderful as are the others who work there. He isn't over booked and never makes you wait...ever! If I get there early I always get in right away. He listens to your input and their first concern is your comfort...which included all the amenities like a body length heat/massage pad, warm blankets, pillows etc. And they always look on your chart to see what you like and have it ready for you. It would be nice if none of us had Dentophobia but at least it's much nicer to go than it was when I was a child, back in the dark ages!

Chutzie
and ya, I can't sleep due to Agliophobia which is the correct spelling of Pain-o-phobia.

Of all things to be afraid of it would be clowns and my brother, Mikel got that one pegged for me. Yes, I get laughed at a lot about that, but whatever you have are generally not rational!
The other one is: Dystychiphobias or fear of Accidents!

I didn't ever feel that way before and then my hubby took our oldest daughter to WalMart and there was a deadly car accident! The woman was making a "run" to Walmart to pick something up and next thing, she was dead! I've never said, "I'm going to run to Walmart!" again!!!

Shortly there after, my youngest daughter, 11, and I were going to pick up the next girl up (12 years old) from school after band practice. As it turns out there was a terrible rain storm and I hydroplaned. We turned side ways and then did a 180*, hit the curb with the sides of the wheels with my "baby" in the back seat saying, "Moma, Moma, Moma...." I was telling her to hang on! She was in a booster seat and buckled up. By the time we stopped, we were about 12 inches from a concrete wall! So, yeah, this may be my biggest fear! I haven't driven a day since!!!

Yes, I'll admit I'm a bit psychotic!!!
LoL,
Catz4
I'm called Cat, but as there are few other Cat's on here, I put the number of cats I have and combined it to spell out Catz4

Catz...I'm so sorry your experiences with driving has made your fear that bad but I can understand why though. Most fears are very irrational to those on the outside but when it's inside of us they are very real! I have a fear of those long skinny things in the garden...can't even write the name without having nightmares. Brother tortured me as a youngster, thew them at me and all. To this day even running across a picture in a magazine will put me into shakes. I have our place carefully laid out so as to minimize them. And I pay the grandkids to get rid of them too...lol

And I will admit to Coulrophobia and also Pupaphobia...both clowns and puppets creep me out big time, especially marionettes and those dummies that ventriloquists use. <shudder> I told you it was irrational!
