Hi all, I usually hang out in the fibro room, but lurk here too. Lol Anyway I recently got a copy of my medical records because I am going to moving soon, and was surprised to see that I am diagnosed with chronic pain (along with fibro, migraines etc.) Is chronic pain an actual diagnosis? I guess I thought it would be more of a symptom. Just curious if any of you have this listed as a diagnosis. And why? Wouldn't all the other things I have be the reason for chronic pain? I know this is kind of a silly question, but it just doesn't make sense to me. Thanks in advance for any input.
Gentle Hugs,
Shannon

Hi damouthy1, *teehee*
In what I have read, yes would be the answer if you are asking can you be diagnosed with chronic pain. The trick is that there are many reasons for being diagnosed with chronic pain. From what I've read and what I understand, though I am no doctor nor an expert at anything except knowing what pain feels like for me personally, your diagnosis may be fibro yet you are considered to have a chronic pain diagnosis as well. I hope that makes any sense. I go online and just type it in to get a lot of answers for many of my own problems. I hope you stick around and let us know how your move goes. I hope you've got a good doc where you are moving, they are not easy to find.
Take care,

Damouthy1,
Darn it! I meant to let you know that on Chronic Pain 101 there are some log sheets to write down where your pain is, when, how bad, etc. They are really helpful! They will also be helpful for your new dr or drs. I keep them regularly to help me understand if there is something that exacerbates my pain. It's just a thought, but I'd recommend checking it out anyway.
Good luck with your move!

Thanks Cat, that does make sense and I appreciate you taking the time to try and explain. I will check out the log sheets. I too am hoping to find a good doc, the one I have here is awesome. She is the one who dx'd me with fibro finally, after a million tests for other things..lol
