Ok I overdid it this past weekend . I helped with laundry and did  housework. my stomach is swollen, muscle pain and incision pain. I called the surgeons office  to see if this was normal. I got yelled at saying it was too soon to be doing things  and to listen to your body. He is in surgery this morning but she will let him know and would call me back this afternoon. I hope  he dont want me to come in cause  we dont have the co pay to come in right now and hubby cant take no time off of work to take me . I have learned my lesson. No more overdoing it.

Kimber, I'm glad you realize now how important it is to follow the instructions you're given. Please listen to the doctor and follow his advice for what you can and can't do. The secret to healing quickly and as pain free as possible is to follow instructions....PERIOD.

Now, go sit down, put your feet up and enjoy a hot cup of tea. Better? I thought so!

hugs,
Pam

Yes, please, please do not over do it. I did after my lapro hysterectomy and am still paying the price over 2 years later with wicked adhesions and lots of pain to go with them. Of course I also fell down the stairs 3 days after surgery but I also tried to get back to full speed ahead way to soon!

Take care and remember you only have one change to heal the right way!

Kimber, I truly hope you've learned your lesson....this is serious stuff! I'm glad that someone cared enough about you to yell at you! You've probably set back your healing by several days but hopefully you didn't do any permanent damage....

Please just rest.....don't do ANYTHING else!

Praying that you're OK!

Ok all heard from the surgeons office . He said take it easy and listen to my body . He also tacked in another week or 2 recovery time on top of the other week I have left . so he said take it easy for another 2 or 3 weeks and go in easy to my normal routine. If Im still in alot of pain to make an appt. He says depends on the person recovery can be 3 weeks to 3 months.in other words im doing way to much for being 3 weeks out of surgery. so im going to be a good girl and take it easy. Because he said I still have internal stitches and if I keep on doing what im doing I can really hurt myself.

Dear Kimber , please listen both to you doctor and your body , they won't steer you wrong . I know the temptation to overdo when you start feeling good , but it seems I always pay for it too , so my new motto is '' Do it Right or do it Over '' and I really have come to dread doing things over  .I guess they yelled at you out of concern , but anyway take it slow  soon you won't have to worry about it you'll be your old self and won't that be cool ?Try to enjoy your recovery and plan all that you do when your better , good luck !  Mikel

Kimbers;

I do hope you are feeling a little better this afternoon. I feel so badly for each of my fellow CPers having to go through so much. The one thing I wanted to share with you is this......listen to your pain. I know that's easier said then done, but really it isn't. After 10 years of living with back pain I too had to learn to listen to my back.

Hugsss

Hi Kimber

I'm sorry you're hurting from overdoing it.  Please listen to your dr.  He knows what is best for you.  I'm here for you if you need to talk.  I've had gallbladder surgery as I said before.  It does take a while to get to where you can get back to your old routine.  I hope you're feeling better by now.  Good luck to you.

hugs
Loretta

Kimber-
I too had to learn the hard way. It took me about 6 weeks to really feel better surgical pain wise after I had mine removed. I have a friend who was back to driving truck in 2 weeks and was fine. The gallbladder pain was gone immediately, but the surgical pain lasted about 6 weeks for me. Please take it easy now, please.

Take care,
Bill

I guess it takes some people longer to heal than others.  I was better within about a week.  I was one of the lucky ones.  I still couldn't do too much though for a while.  Please be careful.  (((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))

I'm not sure if you are on any type of disability from your work place but be very careful about following your doctors orders. If the disablity company decides you are not following your doctors orders they can stop your disability. I know when I was on disability for 7 months following my fusion surgeries in '06, I had to file disability paperwork every month and one of the questions the doctor had to answer was whether I was following his instructions. Even on my spine fusion stimulator that I was required to wear, the company rep would meet me at my doctor appt to check the counter built into it to see if I was wearing it properly. Just a heads up for any members using disability insurance.
