First of all, thank you for those you took the time to answer it.
To answer your question Screamingeagle, I have pain in both places: cervical and lumbar. But I really think that my pain in the upper back area is caused by my TMJ. I think that I clench my teeth so badly at night that it causes a chronic inflammatory syndrom in my neck and back. I wish I could see someone for it (dental surgeon) but it costs a fortune and it's not covered by the universal healthcare here in Canada. For my lower back, I take Oxycontin 2x20mg and anti-inflammatories. I started taking Lyrica lately and 25mg of Elavil. We'll see where this goes. You said that you had TMJ too, what are your symptoms?
Also, I'd like to sent an invitation to all those who suffer loneliness like me and would like to chat on Messenger when the mood strikes instead of brooding around like I do. In my profil, you can find my address and send me an invitation. A positive answer is garanteed.
It's a beautiful day right now in Montreal....

Hi Frenchie,

Good to hear that you're on some medications that will help you feel better. I wanted to mention to you that there are some OTC solutions for TMJ where the toothbrushes and artificial teeth cleaners are. There's usually 2 or 3 types of product that might help.

Good luck,
Conditions: Fibromyalgia, Chronic Pelvic Pain, FAI, Reynauds, IBS, Interstitial Cystitis, Surgical Adhesions, Ophthalmic Migraines, Severe Hot Flashes (Surgical Menopause and drug related), plus physically unable to vomit due to Nissen, and I have extremely tiny veins...a joy for blood work or IV's)
Surgeries: Appendix, Uterus, Nissen Fundoplication for GERD, Left Ovary, Gallbladder, Right Ovary, TVT
Medications: Oxycontin, Tramacet, Cymbalta, Flexeril, Clonidine, Cesamet, plus Vitamin D and Multi-Vitamin daily

Good Afternoon Frenchie71! My symptoms are not severe with the tmj, but when it does flare up, it causes, of course pain in the joints of the jaw, and a headache follows it as well. I'm pretty sure you already know this, but you can buy the bite or Splint hardware over the counter, just about anywhere these days. DR OZ just did a show on this problem a few days ago, and I'm sure you can look it up here on the internet, and re watch the show. The whole show was not about tmj, but it was mentioned and he told what simple things could be done for it.
I have never heard of tmj affecting the lower back pain before, but I will look it up and see what is said about it.
Also, you can email me anytime for a chat, but I don't always see the emails in time.
You might want to try FB as well, and I will send you an invite to my page if you have one. And don't forget that we have a chat night on Thursday evenings. Many of our members also meet there during the week. It will just take some time for you to hook up with some of the members here.

Hi. I didn't fully read the post, but I just want to add that I have a lot of experience with TMJ. I am currently only able to open enough to get one finger in (that's how they count). I'm so tired right now and in a lot of pain, so I'm going to go lay down, but I will definitely write later about my TMD if you want...???? Two types of surgery were recommended for me. I haven't had them. I have a special bite plate. I can only eat soft, cut up food. I have headaches and severe pain in my jaw. I don't talk about it much though because I have such bad back pain too and that kind of dominates...I have disc displacement, etc., etc., etc.,....too many things wrong with my silly jaw!
