i mentioned in my intro that I found this forum while searching for info on Oxycodone 15mg... I used to get yellow ones and now I get light blue or light green ones that don't work for me or any of my PM docs other patients... and learned in searching that some brands are vastly inferior... and lots of brands are unavailable or discontinued... but most of the info I found was from last year, so I was wondering if anyone here had the same problem and found a good brand or replacement med?

I've called every pharmacy around (and of course have been treated with suspicion...) I finally started telling them that I'm allergic to something in the blue/green ones so I need the yellow ones... but half the pharmacies are out of stock completely of Oxy 15s, and the other half only have the blue/green ones... (or they don't carry the meds at all) So I'm at a loss as to what I should do... I called the dr office but it was late fri so i never heard back... I'm getting that panicky sick feeling in my gut that I may be SOL (crap Outta Luck) as usual... but maybe someone here can calm my fears...

thanks in advance for any help!
xoxo,
Suzie

I can not find anywhere, where Oxycodone or Oxycontin is supplied in 15 mg tablets! Percocet which is Oxycodone and Acetaminophen Yellow tablets are 10/325 (10mg oxycodone and 325 mg Acetaminophen) and blue tablets are (5mg oxycodone and325mg Acetaminophen) but the color can vary from one manufacture to another! But in my research Oxycodone does not come in 15mg in any form! Even Percodan which is Oxycodone and aspirn does not come in that dosage! I wish I could be of more help to you. What does the bottle that your meds came in say?

WB, she's right. I've been taking the 15mg oxicodones for years. She's also right about the yellow ones not being avalable anymore. The blue/green ones are all that are avalible. It started last year when there was a shortage of these particular meds. It was hard to find them anywhere and lots of us who take them had to get perc 10/325's instead untill the supply came back. But when it did the yellow ones were not avallible anymore! Completely gone! I agree that the blue ones don't seem to work as well as the yellow ones but I haven't notised that big of a difference as Suzie, I mean they still help just not as good!!!
I don't know what to tell you Suzie, it looks like for now we're stuck w/ these blue pills. Maybe you can get your doc to prescribe 30mg pills instead, other than that I have no answer> Sorry!
I hope you find something that will work for you!
Your Friend,
Pete

WB - it's called oxycodone imm rel, supposed to be just oxy with no tylenol or aspirin or ibuprofen... easier on my sensitive stomach...

i finally did a search and found that the yellow ones were made by Ethex and are not being made right now... so i guess i'm stuck with the blue/green ones... just my luck that I find something that gives me some relief and it gets discontinued... so i guess i'll get them filled and ask the doc what he's given the other patients that ran into the same problem... IF he bothers to call back... can anything ever just be simple and easy???

thanks for your responses, though!

Underthebus - doctors are such ridiculous a*holes sometimes... i'm so sorry you're suffering because of their incompetence... i almost died in the ER because of a so-called doctor, so i definitely feel your pain and frustration... hopefully you can find a real doctor who cares... i got lucky, the PM doc I go to has chronic neck pain, so he actually understands...

Suzie,
You may try asking your pharmacist about alternatives, too. Not the techs, but the head pharmacist where you go if you have a decent one. My cousin is a pharmacist and I've learned tons from her over the past few years, and a good pharmacist can sometimes be an even better source of info. about meds. They will also understand about manufacturers discontinuing meds, or supplies being low, etc. Another place to check is the fda.gov website to see if there have been any alerts or other issues with a given med or manufacturer.

Good luck!

Yes, I had been taking the Oxy IR 15 mg. for a long time...they were always the light blue or green ones though...Now that I take the Oxy IR 30 mg. I either get the light blue ones or now the darker blue ones....So, I don't know if there is a difference but I know that with Methadone tabs the rectangular ones are better then the round ones....so it must be the same with these....

I don't understand how generic meds...that are technically the same....are so much different then the Brand name meds... I think that the generic pharm. companies use cheaper materials so they can sell them cheaper and make a bigger proffit.... It's not fair to those of us that have insurance that only pay for generic meds....and if something happens and we need the brand names we have to jump through hoops to get them...if we do.

So, I hope you can get this straightened out with your Dr.

Well I sure can't argue with people that have gotten them, I am now wondering why my Drug guide doesn't have it listed as it is not that old and I have several different ones! Now after researching it on the internet I have found several other strengths of Oxycodone and Oxycontin that are not listed in any of my Drug guides! Time to toss those out and just use the internet I guess!

I will agree though that there is a difference with diffferent manufactures. When my pharmacy was giving the generic extended release Oxycodone instead of the Oxycontin, there was definitely a difference not just in the length of time it would cover the pain, but also how well it would do. They kept telling me it was the same, but even my Pain Doc said the ingredients that the oxycodone was mixed with does make a difference on how well it performs in certain people!

I also take Oxycodone 15; with Morphine 100mt. I get either bluish or green one of the oxy.. The blue seems to work allot better than the white ones.

holy crap underthebus!! I seriously don't understand why some people go into the medical profession if they're going to treat people like that...

the nurse I got kept telling me they would give me pain meds soon, and I kept telling him i didn't want pain meds, i needed steroids and an IV because i couldn't keep fluids in my body... but b/c i was acting funny (like a diabetic coma) he assumed i was drug-seeking and refused to believe otherwise... same with the doctor, i had to beg for an IV, he gave me one that my body absorbed in like 5 minutes b/c i was so dehydrated, then he discharged me and told me to take better care of my "edison's"... my medalert bracelet clearly states "addison's disease"...

i couldn't get up to leave, even though i tried... 4 hours later i was near death and in shock and the new er doc had to give me 250mg steroid shot to bring me back... i was convulsing, blind and had no BP... all because a "doctor" made up his mind that i was a drug-seeker... then they wouldn't let me leave the hospital for 6 days, because my body was so ****ed up from the crash they caused... worst 6 days of my life...

i tried to sue, but they changed and/or whited out all my records... I'll die before i go to the ER ever again... i feel sick just from typing that out...

Wow,

I'm all confused now, I just started (about 2.5 weeks now) on oxy 15's. Started with the 10's but they were not quite enough. Now I am finding that the every 12 hour deal is not cutting it. The oxy I feel is strong enough, but I think that by 7-8 hours I am starting to feel pain again. Like right now, I took my meds at 7:00 AM and right now I'm in pain...extreme? No but pain that I just don't have a few hours earlier. But anyway sorry... I have only had my script filled once and they are light blue. I thought since they were brand name and not generic that they would be made by only one manufacture. (Silly me) you learn something every day!!

Michelle,

Would it be possible to ask your doctor if he/she could write you a prescription for oxycodone 5 mg AND oxycodone 10 mg tablets to be taken together. That way you might be able to avoid the brand of oxycodone 15 mg that doesn't work for you. I hope you can find a solution that works.

hugs,
Skeye
