Well my boys are leaving on Thursday after a wonderful visit! We have been having a blast together. To many cool things to write about
now but I'll tell you about
what we did today.
We went to the Rainbow River. A spring fed river thats crystal clear. The plan was to take my two man kyak up w/ an electric trolling motor so that everyone wouldn't have to be in the 72 degree water at once while floatin tubes down the river. Plus I wouldn't have to paddle which would have hurt me awful! When we got there a little after 2pm the park which rents tubes said they don't rent them after 1pm on weekdays so the boat plan went right out the window! Instead we went up to the state park at the spring head and went swimming. I had a mask, snorkle, fins and two pairs of swim goggles so we could check out the underwater wonderland! It sure was! It was roped off into a large rectangle where everyone was swimming but there was no lifeguard on duty so I broke the rules and went passed the ropes out into the river and into the big spring holes! There were some huge bass, bluegills, stompknockers and turtles out there hanging out in the weeds which were not at all afraid of me! The water was as clear as any I've ever seen anywhere!
We all took turns w/ the mask although my wife didn't go outside the ropes. What a great day! When we got home I cooked them a special Italian dinner which everyone said was super! We are winding down now and hopefully will get some sleep tonight because we are going fishing out in the Gulf of Mexico again in the a.m. and this time w/ a east wind> We will catch fish!!!
Now for the bad news. I'm in pretty bad shape! Had to sit on a chair while trying to cook dinner tonight! My back is shot and in constant spazms and my neck isn't much better, electric shock and sharp burning pains! My bad hip, the one that should have been replace 10 years ago is burning constantly too. I'm really hurting but I refuse to let it stop me from having fun w/ the boys!!!! It just ain't gonna happen!!! My biggest fear now is Thursday when the boys are leaving, so are Mom and I!!! I have to drive her to New Jersey, only 1,200 miles! Oh Boy, I wish I had a couple days to rest my back, hip & neck but I don't. Mom (83 y/o) has to be back in Jersey for her high school reunion she goes to every year and we are cutting it close by waiting till the boys leave! So like my Hero Jacky Gleason used to say>>>
And away we go!!!!!!
I'll write tomorrow and tell you about
the din~dang fish WE WILL CATCH and EAT!!!!!

Pete, I honestly don't know how you do it. The fish sound just amazing, I've only snorkled once in my life and couldn't believe how tame fish can be and how they seem to swim up to you and check you out. That was in Western Australia around Rottnest Island, a marine reserve so no fishing and lots of brightly coloured tropical type fish. Your experience sounded incredible too.
Great you had such quality time with your boys but how on earth you will manage to drive your Mum so far is beyond me. Make sure you have lots of breaks and do some stretching along the way. Pointless telling you to take it easy, I realise at this stage "easy" isn't part of your vocabulary.
Please be careful, I know life is to be lived but you don't want to end up bedridden and full of regrets...
Best wishes, golitho

I'm sorry to hear about
your increased pain, but I am so glad to hear that you are having a fantastic time with your boys! It sounds like in this case, the pain is worth it. Hopefully you'll be able to relax and take it easy for a while once your boys leave & your complete your road trip.
Enjoy your last few days with your boys & have a safe trip. Don't push yourself too hard during the trip, even if it takes you a little longer overall. Stop & take breaks. Listen to your body!

Pete, I don't know how you do this either...I'm glad your enjoying your boys, but you need to start setting limits on what you can do...
time to sit back and let your kids cook dinner for you...let them show you what they've gotten from you, share your talents with them
and make it easy on yourself.......at least take it easy tomorrow and don't push things too hard........but you won't so
Hope you get a low pain day soon
