Are there any foods you don't care for? I mean you can't even gag them down? Are there foods you used to like but now can't tolerate or...foods you never used to eat and now you love them? Over time our tastes change but there are some foods we may never care for. What are yours?

I came from an era of "The Clean Plate Club" shocked You are what was on your plate or you sat there until you did. Or you would get it served to you for breakfast the next morning. smhair Do you have any idea how nasty cold lima beans and beats are? <shudder> I still can't eat them. I eat most things but if they are strong, like liver, or just plain disgusting to look at on your plate I don't see any reason to ingest them. On my "No-No" list are liver, those lima beans and beats, corned beef (feels like I'm eating fat and blubber), and please don't cook my carrots. rolleyes I'll eat them raw, thank you very much.

On the other hand I never used to eat dates or avocados and now I really enjoy them. It's strange how over time and with the addition of many pills into my life how my tastes have changed. There are plenty of foods that were my favorites and now I can't bear to even try them. Also my tastes change from one month to another some times. Strange stuff huh? I know there are more items but the Fog is thick tonight...lol

What foods don't you care for and why?

Liver has to be one of the most disgusting foods ever. I would have to be pretty hungryt o eat it. And tripe - ugh - my Noni and my Mother used to make it but I never ate it. I have to admit that I was a child who wouldn't eat ordinary things like a peanut butter or tuna sandwich but I'd eat calamare, perriwinkles, lobster and most any kind of fish. Especially if my Noni made it. Obviously, I'm Italian so I ate a lot of weird stuff as a kid. I didn't eat much so my Mother would try to make things that I would eat. I was an indulged child (I prefer that to the word spoiled! LOL)

Avocados are something that I didn't used to eat either but now I like them. It was a texture thing with me. Never liked beans for the same reason so when Noni made pasta fagiole, I picked out the beans. But I will eat them now.

Used to love soda but I can't stomach it now. I have GERD so lots of things I used to love make me feel so ill I don't really eat them anymore. The biggest one being chocolate! I still eat it from time to time but it really makes me feel bad. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise and I'll lose weight!

I can't stand melon of any kind. And there's something about the texture of lima beans that I just can't handle. Artificial strawberry flavor makes me cringe (it reminds me of the flavoring they put in liquid penicillin, which I'm allergic to).

I have a lot of issues regarding food, in that the texture has to appeal to me. The food might be fantastic, but if the texture is slimy (just one issue I can think of off the top of my head), there is no way I can eat it.

As a child, my mom used to cook up eggplant because my dad loved it. She would slice it, batter it and fry it - I didn't mind eating the batter part but the inside was mushy and the smell was too strong for me and I couldn't get it down. My parents were the "eat it or you don't leave the table" types, so I could theoretically sit there until breakfast, but they soon realized I was more stubborn than they were and I could and WOULD sit there for hours rather than eat it.

There were a few other things I wasn't fond of, but eggplant tops the list. Nowadays, I have virtually no appetite, so nothing appeals to me. I'm pretty much eating yogurt with Flax cereal in the morning and perhaps some ice cream later in the day. I have discovered that I love Vietnamese food and I'm more willing to try other stuff, but I still have texture issues.

Liver, oysters, avocados, asparagus, and cola, are at the very top of my list of things I can not stand to eat! The taste and texture of all these foods are definitely in a class of their very own, no other foods resemble them in taste, these foods definitely have a taste all their own! When I was young I never liked any type of soda, ( I could not stand the feeling of the carbonation in my mouth, "it hurt my ears") As an adult I will drink 7-UP or Sprite or other beverages similar to it. Although if I had my druthers I would still drink cool-aid or fruit juice first!

Chart I am with you about the bones in fish! I do like some fish, like from Mc Donald's or from Long Jonh Silvers, or something like that! ( Fish that doesn't taste fishy!) You really do need to try Lobster, it is the absolute best in sea food! There is nothing that compares to it!

I can't stand liver, greens such as turnip, spinach.  I will eat a lot of things, but definitely not those, although i do like spinach raw in a salad.

WhiteBeard if you'll teach me the correct way to eat lobster then, I'll have to come up and get a lesson from you...
Thanks...

I recently learned to eat and enjoy fish, if it's not too fishy, cream cheese, and broccoli.

But I still don't like liver or yogurt or beets or hardly any vegetables.  I can't stand squid or the smell of it and I make it for my husband.

Believe in yourself.  Be kind to fellow humans and animals.  Take time to smell the flowers and the coffee.
And by all means, when you are down, ask me for help.  I will be there.
