Would you rather take pictures or be in pictures? Most of us enjoy pictures and have some sort of photographic equipment. You might use those one-use cameras or have thousands of dollars of high end gear but no matter, we do love taking pictures of our families. But are you usually behind the camera or in front of it?

There are precious few pictures of me over the years because I'm always the one holding the camera. Plus I'm very watchful of others who have a camera in their hand. It just makes me very uncomfortable. I don't like the way I look in photos and I don't want people taking them. Yet others in our family perk up the minutes someone pulls out their camera. I also love tweaking my pictures in software and having some fun with pictures of the little ones, sort of Anne Geddes style...just not that good. tongue

OK, time to fess up. Do you usually hang on to the camera or are you fine with being on the other side of the lens and having someone take your picture?

Always behind my Flip! Since getting my Flip a couple years ago, I hardly use my camera anymore. Since I can pull pic's out of the video's even though they are not the quality of my dig cam there good enough. I just love my Flip!! I can just plug it in my comp and download the video's and e-mail them to all my friends, Some here know because I've sent them video's. The best part is it fits right in my shirt pocket and takes double "A" batt's!!! Remember the big old video cameras and those batteries that cost so much?? I sound like I'm doing a comercial for Flip but if you haven't heard or seen these litle gems, I suggest you take a look and all for under $150.00!!!!!
In the past couple years we have taken trips to see my two sons who are in the Navy after they returned from deployment and I have so much on video which I wouldn't have had if I was using our old vidio camera w/ the big batt's and tapes!!!
Sorry I got off track, I know I always seem to but Flip cameras or other brands like them are so cool and much better than cell phone videos! OK I'll stop!
Love Yuze Guys!!!
Pete
PS> Sometimes I turn the Flip and catch a close up of my ugly puss just for Ha Ha's!

Chutzie

I to am usually the one behind the camera. I spent 8 years in photography in my military days, I have thousands of pictures that I have shot over the years, mostly of my family, most of the pictures was taken with my 35mm or my larger 120 format camera that I had! When I was in the military we had the saying that, film was cheap and it you got one or two outstanding photographs out of a 36 exposure roll then it was worth price of the roll of film. I also followed that philosophy in civilian life, and it is even easier in with the digital cameras! Most of my pictures do not have me in them, but I seldom pose pictures, most of the family shots I have are, candid pictures of family members doing something. Some might be embarrassing but thy all tell a story. There is a saying in photography, that a picture is worth a thousand words, you can try to describe something and write about it all day long, but with just one picture you can say it all! My camera is my time machine, I can capture that moment in time from the past and I can go back to look at it any time I want!

I don't consider myself very photogenic. My double chin always seems like three on film (although my husband swears I don't have a double chin at all), so I really would prefer my picture not be taken unless I can "pose".

I'm not big into photography, so I just have a Canon Point and Shoot. My husband is into photography in a much bigger way, so he has all sorts of gear and lenses, etc. He loves to take photos and really prefers to not be in them. There are very few photos of just the two of us so I'm going to arrange for a professional photographer friend of ours take some this summer.

hugs,
Pam

I need to be behind the camera, at least nowadays, every recent picture I have seen of myself is terrible! I used to take halfway decent pictures, but I don't know what happened. It may be the pain over the last few years or just my age but suddenly.....yuck!! Also, I love taking pictures anyway!

I'm laughing at some of these posts because I SO agree! I'm ONLY the picture-taker and do not like to get my picture taken in the last few years :) In fact, I can get quite evil about it these days... I want NO documentation of me and this huge, pregnant w/ babies #7 and #8 body. :) :) No thank you....

tongue

Good question, Chutzie :)

Why is it that so many of us do not want to be in the picture?????
Something to do w/ our CP?? Does pain make us look bad or do we just think it does??? For me, pain = not as much exercise as I need = FAT = I don't want to look at myself!!!
How about the rest of Y'all?????????????
Much Love and Big Big Giant Hugz!!!

Well I don't mind taking or being in the picture. Mind you, I don't like most pics of me because the camera makes me look even bigger than I am, but when my mother died, I realized I didn't have many pics of her. That is sad for the granddaughters. So now, I tell my daughter, get my picture too and your father's.

Believe in yourself.  Be kind to fellow humans and animals.  Take time to smell the flowers and the coffee.
And by all means, when you are down, ask me for help.  I will be there.

I don't like my picture being taken either. I would rather be behind the camera.
