I promised I'd share my pathology report once I got the results.

To remind all of you, last week I had surgery for hysterectomy for endometrial cancer.  The surgeon said it all looked good to the naked eye, but the path report would tell the tale.  Well, the cancer has spread to the cervix, so now I will be referred to a medical oncologist  here in town to participate in courses of chemotherapy and radiation both. the chemo will be in a series of three treatments twice, before and after radiation.  The radiation will take place daily for 6 weeks straight.  That is all the detail I have so far.  I will share any news that comes my way.

I gotta tell you that it hit me like a ton of bricks--this news.  I still feel a bit shocked, but I'm coming to terms with the results.  Listen friends, I need your prayers more than ever now.  Please do this for me, pray and pray hard.  If you don't pray, then just send positive thoughts my way please.  That will help too.

I love all you guys and I'm sorry to have to share this news with you, but at the same time, I'm so grateful that I have all of you to share it with.

God bless and have a lpd.

Thank you Mikel. I knew I could count on you, my wise and very strong friend. And thank you for saying that you will pray for me. That means everything to me, hon.

I certainly will share my feelings with all of you as the time goes by. I am somewhat frightened, but at the same time, I have a strong faith in God and I know I am not the only person this is happening to. It is what it is and I just have to show up everyday.. That's how I am looking at it.

God bless you dear mikel

Linda, I am sorry the path report wasn't better news. I'm sure your doctors will determine the best course of treatment now with chemo and radiation, and I hope that goes well for you. More than anything though, I'll be praying for you, for complete healing, and for comfort and strength for you and your loved ones, as you go thru this journey.

You have the support and love of many here, and I hope that's a source of comfort for you. Please know you can vent and cry and celebrate with us and we'll all be here to hold you up and keep you going.

hugs,
Pam

Linda, I can only say ditto to what WhiteBeards posted. You are a very upbeat lady with a great attitude and this attitudue will go a very long ways in you beating this devil, you can do it. Of course you are shocked, you were not expecting this, no one really ever expects this to happen to them. Take your time in allowing it to sink in, it will get better. My sister is one year post-op breast cancer. She just had her one year check up, so far so good. You are in my prayers and I will have you added to some prayer lists that my sister is on. Lots of hugs and good vibes coming your way.

Lindaloo,
I am so sorry to hear the news and can completely understand your feeling shocked. Some things we can handle so easily, yet others plant us against a brick wall - at least for a brief time. But I know you will take a deep breath and regroup.

One question I had was wasn't the cervix removed with your hysterectomy? (I know some procedures can leave the cervix, so maybe this is what you had).

But I also want to share a little something about my cousin, who is undergoing her treatment for a rather aggressive form of breast cancer. She brought me to have my endoscopy today and she looks great. She had a lumpectomy - two lumps were removed - and a breast reduction surgery in both breasts, which was good because the tissue that was removed was precancerous. She has already had the second of 4 chemo treatments, and then will undergo 6 weeks of radiation. While she feels a little tired the first week after her chemo, and she was kind of achey for a day or two (she took a vicodin for a couple of days, and I think a muscle relaxant, but it was for a brief time) by the third week (which is what this week is) she's feeling great. She went sailing the other night with her husband and some friends, goes shopping, etc. She's doing all her normal activities for the most part, except she maybe tires a little easier. She is losing her hair, and knew that would happen so she had on a cute summer hat today (because she still has her bangs) but also bought herself a cute wig to wear when she wants to. To look at her, you'd never know she was undergoing cancer treatment. They have come so far in mixing the meds for chemo it's amazing. She bought herself a portable DVD player and brings it for her chemo, which lasts about 4 hours. She said she watches a movie and then tends to fall asleep.

One thing that did help her was that she used a lot of the relaxation & guided imagery tapes I had that were made by Belleruth Naparstek, LISW, and she said they helped her immensely, especially the Stress tapes which helped a lot with her anxiety. Belleruth (I know, strange name!) is a psychotherapist who first started her work with the Cleveland Clinic and with cancer patients. She has CD's or downloads (I have old cassettes which shows you how long I've used her material!) some of which you can get for free through some of the pharmaceutical companies. I have no financial connection with her, just use and recommend her materials so I think it's ok to give you her website - www.healthjourneys.com.

I hope some of this helps a bit, and you sure will have healing thoughts from me coming your way!

Linda,

I am so sorry to hear the bad news. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that the upcoming weeks will not be too uncomfortable (both physically and emotionally). Of course you need to grieve, but I also know that you are a fighter -- you can't have dealt with pain this long & not be -- you can do this! You are going to get through this!

Just a thought -- when my mom was initially diagnosed with uterine cancer, besides consulting with an oncologist, etc, she went to see a doctor (an actual MD) with a lot of background in nutrition, vitamins, and supplements. This doctor completely changed my mom's diet. She told her not to eat dairy (because of all the estrogens) or white bread or sugar, and some other things, plus she put her on a whole bunch of supplements and vitamins & my mom's blood tests/cancer markers actually improved as a result. I don't know if you'd be interested in something like this, & I know that this is a different situation, but it might be worth looking into. According to this doctor, a lot of cancers are effected by our diets & the chemicals in them. It actually makes sense to me. Hope this is helpful.

many hugs,
Skeye

How terrifying for you Linda, Of course you'll be in my best healing thoughts. I sincerely hope they got it early enough for you.

It must be so daunting to have it all ahead of you. But we're all here for you. All our hopes and wishes and prayers so don't feel alone.
Have you got strong family support too? I hope you have someone to help you through this process at home as well.

Feel pretty inadequate from here, but I'm thinking of you and worried for you, please keep us informed with your news. When do you see the oncologist?

Best wishes, golitho

Well, I got my appointment with the oncologist for June 15 at 2:15. That's not too far away at all. I am pleased that things are moving along swiftly. I need some questions answered too. As soon as I know, you all will know.

Thanks for all your continued support.

Hi Lindaloo...

I'm sorry I'm late in responding here... I just now read your post. I just want you to know that I will be praying for you now and the weeks to come. I can personally tell you how strong the power of prayer is and what it can do... and I know that so many here are pulling for you and praying for you. You are very special to many of us here.

I'm glad you got an appointment that isn't too far away... please continue to update us, and - of course - lean on us for support and encouragement.

LindaLoo, I'm not sure how I missed your post from yesterday but I did and I'm so sorry! I am putting you way up on the top of my prayer list, also second, third, in the middle, almost to the end and the big caboose at the end too! I promiss! It's hard to get the right words to say w/o sounding generic and like broken record. Also I don't want to say I understand because I don't, no one does! You may know that I had prostate cancer and had the whole kit and cabootle removed almost 7 years ago. I remember the day the dr. told me I have cancer like it was yesterday, all the emotions, the crying, the why me crap, being stupid and drinking a whole qt. of scotch thinking that is what a real man would do! (I don't even like scotch!) how stupid!
Geeze, I'm sorry for reliving it here. Everyone is different and I was very weak back them.
Anyway, you can beat this monster!!! I know you can!!! I did and I'm a weak person, there's no doubt in my mind that you'll be rid of this in no time and it will be nothing but a bad memory for you. Cancer made me a better person, I know that sound like a dumb thing to say but it's true and many others have told me the same thing and it's undeniably true!!! I was a real jerk vbefore cancer and look at me now! Still a jerk but a loving one!
You hang in there Lindaloo and be the tough LADY we all know you are!! You have so many good friends> no I mean Family here routing and praying for you and we'll be there with you through the whole deal till your a survivor>> and You WILL be a survivor> absolutly possitively with out question!!!
We love you L.L. Big Giant Hugz comin atcha!!!
Your Buddy,
Pete
