Are you someone who's "thrifty"?
Or are you the spendthrift type?
Most of us certainly do have to watch out money and very closely too. I'm no different than anyone else in here especially since doc said I can't work any more. Life has changed a lot with a money pinch going on. So...for those who are thrifty, and I'm betting that's nearly everyone, what kind of things do you do to save money? If we share our ideas and talents each of us will most likely save even more.
I'm a bulk shopper. Costco is my store of choice. Plus I shop the sales in the regular grocery store. Specifically one thing I do is buy meat in bulk and then cut it up or grind it myself. It's so much better tasting too. I have a Kitchen Aid stand mixer and bought a grinder attachment for it about
25 years ago. We've ground up the equivalent of 4-5 pigs and a cow through that thing and it's still going. It has a crack in the plastic down the side if it but I put a hose clamp on and tightened it down well and so far that extended it's life about
I also make breakfast sausage... a few pounds of ground up pork, salt, pepper, sage and a touch of cayenne and it's the best sausage you've ever had for breakfast.
I also pack lunches for the guys. Gosh that saves a ton of money! And they eat much better too. One I pack for hubby and the other is a poor college student, our grandson. He appreciates what he saves and prefers grandma's food most often...unless the cafe at school has something great!
Those are some things I do to save money around the house. What kind of things do you do that helps with your budget?
