Good Morning all!
Well after a wonderfull weekend w/ our special guests, I descided to get some stuff done yesterday. The first thing that came to mind was to finnish digging out my garden. I had 3/4 of it dug out (all weeds & grass) and mixed w/ horse poop (no shortage of that) and planted w/ corn, strawberrys, watermellons, peppers, peas, tomatos and lots of kinds of lettus! Most everything is growing pretty good concidering it's my first garden here in the country and I got such a late start. Evan Dani and David said it looked pretty good for a first timer! My problem is the last 1/4 of the garden which still isn't done. I still have a bunch more small plants grown from seed in pots waiting to get planted! My wife asked in front of our guests Sunday "When are you gonna get the rest of these plants in the grownd old Boy?" Daaaa >> Um>> maybe when I finnish digging out the rest of the garden and make room for them! So yesterday afternoon after it had been raining all day I went out there to fight the garden! After a short time digging my back started hurting as usual so I sat in my trusty chair and kept digging only smaller shovels full. My back hurts less when I sit leaning forward > it's a spinal stennosis thing where it relieves the pressure and stretches my vertabrae apart. So I continued shovelling which used alot of upper body strenth which I have no shortage of. I was fine and after a couple hours I got about 1/2 of what was left dug up and mixed w/ poop and was real proud of myself!
OK move ahead to last night>>> Here comes the spazms!! Oh boy I was in big trouble so I took a hot shower> yuk, I'm used to taking cold showers, which helped a little!! After dinner I took my night time meds a little early and fought through the drowzies till about 10:00pm when Lisa went to bed. I was on the computor and told her I'd be in in a short while. My back was tightening up again so I was sitting forward in the chair trying to stretch it out! I stayed there way too long reading and writing here and there till about midnight and then thats all I remembered till I woke up w/ my head on the keyboard at 1:30am! Dag nabit, my back was killing me along w/ my neck now from being stupid and not going in when I should have! The rest of the night was a nightmare, up and down all night long in agony! I finally gave up at 4:30am and just got up. My poor wife, she was pretty pissed at me this morning for keeping her up all night! I appologised repededly but she said that she's moving to the other bedroom tonight because she can't aford to loose sleep then have to work all day. I felt awful and agreed w/ her but will miss having her in bed w/ me at night terable! I'll just have to wait and see and try to behave myself from now on!!!
So it's now morning and I've been out front lopping off tree branches for a couple hours which is another long over due job. All the bending and stretching helped my back some but not my neck. Every time I stop the spazms come back and the electric shocks down my spine from my neck! I'm not sure what I should do now??? If I go try to take a nap I'm afraid the spazms will wake me in agony just like last night thats if I can get to sleep w/ this crazy neck pain?? If I continue to work, I may make matters evan worse!! Oh the humanity!! What shall I do? I think I'm going to take a muscle relaxer (I usually only take at bedtime) and my mid day meds early and see how I feel???
Now I must get up out of this chair and get moving!!!
Sorry to whine about my missery but as you know, no one else wants to hear about it!!!!!!!!!!
Much Love and Big Hugs to all!
Your pittyful friend,
Pete
When I was young & stupid I broke almost every bone in my body and I'm paying a heavy price now but I'm still here and so glad to see my two sons grow up to be fine young men, both are in the Navy. I'm so proud!

Hey Pete,

I'm sorry to hear that you are hurting so bad again. The spasms are impossible to deal with!

I'm also sorry about the wife having to make the move to the other room. Perhaps she can do like I do and stay in different rooms when things are really bad with pain/sleeping and then stay with you when the pain/spasms are better. I love my husband dearly, but it's fairly often that I have to find a different room or a different bed so that one or the other of us can sleep. I'm actually going to talk to him tonight about adding a bed to our "poker" room and taking out the poker table. It's more of a catch all room at the end of our house and an antique bed would fit in nicely (if the poker table and chairs were gone). If he's OK with it, it may be my new escape room to go to when pain is too bad for anyone to sleep. He needs to sleep and has to work way too many hours for me to keep him up at night.

I am worried about him too, however, because he seems to have a real bad case of sleep apnea, but won't do ANYTHING about it. He snores terribly (which makes me wake up and starts my pain cycle), but I'm mostly afraid he will stop breathing for good in his sleep. It really, really scares me for him.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that I'm sorry you overdid it. I'm afraid you have had too much stress on you lately with the SSD and having visitors and trying to do WAY too much for a "regular" person......let alone a CP person.

GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK!!!! That is an order. You need the rest and I'm sure you could do with a little relaxation right now!

Best to you!

Ahhh, Pete, I can always count on you to give me some good reading material! Thanks for sharing your adventures - I'm always glad to read your posts :) But I am sorry to hear about your extra pain... there's nothing like having bad spasms... I'm hoping your meds helped a little... did they??

Your garden sounds awesome I can't believe all the stuff you manage to get done. Ahhh, I love fresh stuff from a garden.

Gotta run for now... but I'm hoping you got a little relief from your meds, and are trying to take it easy today... Take care of yourself.

Pete why oh why do you push yourself so hard? Can't you pace out the work, one day off one on sort of thing? No You have to try and do it all as if you have no back/neck probems at all.
Sounds as if you're in the ideal place to just kick back and enjoytoo with your lovely house setting and the river and trees.

With RA we're taught to keep moving, so if one pair of joints are hurting change tasks, rather than just rest, maybe you need to try that too. Not continuously do one job way passed your limits.

Wasted breathe I know by now its in your nature to keep going way over your limits everytime! You bring us such joy Pete, but I worry over your sanity at times! Now a spasming back is surely asking you to rest for awhile so it can recover? Please be careful, golitho

Oh Pete.  It sounds like you overdid yourself.  Those spasms are so horrible.  I know what the spinal stenosis is.  I have it myself.  Sometimes I can't do anything but lean forward and pray for the pain to lessen.  Be careful and don't push yourself too far.  Like the others said, we want you in a decent shape here.  You rest and try to pace yourself, my friend.  I hope you're getting some sleep now and feel better when you get up later.  Take care.

Good Morning All!
Well here I am again after a semi good night sleep. I was really carefull not to wake my loving Spousal Unit last night! She stayed in our bed> Yea! Yesterday, I continued to limb the trees, in fact it got really out of hand! I made a little video of the mess I made and sent it off to a couple of our peeps who I have e-mails for. Mainly for lindaloo hoping she had time to see it and get a kick out of my crazyness! Mikel, did you get the Flip video?
Anyway, after all the reaching and stretching the spazms were not as bad last night so for once my plan worked evan if it did entail more work!! But now I have a huge mess to clean up! There are branches all over my yard! So many trees! My burn pile is already 1/2 the size of what it was when I burned it last! After I gather up the mess I made, it's gonna be giant! Then thats another nasty chore that I usually do on a rainy day w/ low winds! Last time the fire got so hot, when it was time to put it out, I ran my hose on it for a half hour and it rained all night! Then that bugger caught on fire again the next morning! I couldn't believe it!
R-Mom, it sounds like you understand the sleep problems!!! I think I have sleep apnea too. White Beard has been bugging me for a while to get it checked out. I know I should but I have so many other health problems the docs want me to take care of, it's so overwelming! I don't know where to start! Good luck w/ your Hubby! Hopefully he'll see a doc about it soon!
Tina> The garden is still young! I got a late start and have only been eating lettus so far. Hopefully my other crops will come in and we'll be eating fresh by mid summer> I hope, especially for watermellons>YUM!!! Thanks for posting!
Chart, Oh I wish I still had my tens!!! I lost it or it was stollen back when I was still working! It would really be helpfull for the spazms <> Electricute them!!! I'll have to save my pennies for another! For me the best is a hot shower to settle it down. I don't like hot showers unless it's cold out> Yesterday it was 95 w/ a heat index of 105 w/ the humidity! Cold showers rule! Thanks, your the best!!!
Mikel, hope you got the video! Then you'll see my place isn't so big! The property is 5 acres but the house is small. Dani made it sound like a big old house. Maybe when we ever can sell or house in S.E. Fla. we'll be able to build a nice house here> That's the plan but the way the ding dang economy is and there are so many houses for sale and in forclosure in our old neiborhood, I don't know if we'll ever sell that house! This economy really screwed us! We worked for 25 years to pay that place off thinking it would be our nest egg, now it's worth about 1/4 of what it was 2 years ago! GRRRRR it makes me so mad!!! We did nothing wrong and we are the ones paying the price for all the crooked jerks w/ thier loans and scams! Sorry for getting off track there! Thanks for posting as usual> Mikel> You Da Man!!!
Golitho, You always have such nice things to say to me! You know, I do take breaks! I sit down and catch my breath and drink lots of water and gator aid! RA sound horable but kinda like me, if I stop too long I can't get going again and pain & spazms set in! Maybe thats why I do so much??? Thanks for posting!
Loretta, I was sleeping at 2:46!!! Why weren't you? Oh you know about that dang stenosis! Sometimes the only relief I get is bending far forward! Then people ask, how can you bend like that w/ a sore back?? I thought you had to stay straight??? Drives me nuts! I'll be bending over walking, sitting, standing, evan driving! Thanks for understanding but sorry that you do!!!
Oh now I must get out there and get going before it gets too hot! Thank goodness I have a little tractor and cart to haul all the limbs!
Big Hugz to all!
Pete

   Dear Pete,

Good morning *warm hugg* I hope you are a little more rested today! And for the record I didnt say your house was big, I said you pasture is huge! Your house is more like a quiet little cottage. Very comfortable and decorated nicely by miss Lisa. The kind of home made for early mornings and coffee on the porch. Reguardless,  your horses are very comfortable and have ALOT of room to run around in :-)   I cant wait to show everyone still pictures from the video I made...if that is okay with you?

I sure hope you are using sunscreen. I dont mean to be offensive in anyway but, you are SUNBURNT. You should use a water proof sunscreen if you can. ...Though I am having a hard time imagining what more you would need to do to your garden or trees? They really are beautiful and you can tell you take great care of your yard and garden. Everything from the flowers to the corn, to the strawberries look fantastic!

I got your flip video in email but I cant seem to make the link work mad   Maybe it is because I am using my bumblebees laptop. She has all kinds of features blocked on it. I even had to let david make it so I could go to the healing well site. Apparently there are dirty words somewhere that don't agree with the security feaures! Hopefully I can watch it on Davids when he gets up..... probably no time soon though, we went to disney world yesterday and didnt get back to the hotel until 5 am. For the recored we were there from 10am and left at 12:15am, and still only saw half of of the magic kingdom  rolleyes

I sure hope your pain slows down. I am sorry you have to deal with so much. After meeting you, knowing you are the kind of person who doesnt slow down unless you have no choice..... I just hope you get your pain levels down. Try to relax if you can at some point.

*hugg*

Hi Pete:

I was reading your posts, and read where you said that your tens unit was stolen.  I have a brand new one (only used a few times), and I don't use it because I have the SCS.  You would just have to find pads for it.  If you would like to have it, I would be happy to send it to you!  It's just sitting in a drawer collecting dust.

   Dear Pete & Lori,

Last year the company that services my TeNS Unit (Dubbed Mr T) had the wrong address listed for me. Somehow I still got the medical supplies thou. I did get address changed but then I got supplies x2 sent. I had ment to call them sooner but I had alot little minor surgeries and it just wasnt important on the "to-do List". In anycase I have ALOT of spare electrodes. They are technically packaged in sets of 4. I have... 40 - 50 or so to spare. I can send em out to you no problem. Let me know here or via email. I get them in the mail as soon as I get back.

Oh my Goodness! I don't know who to reply to first! I just got back from fishing! I wasn't planning on going and was very sore this a.m. but then I said to myself>> I have been working on this property every day untill I can't do it anymore and I owe it to myself evan if I'm hurting!!! So I left around 8:30am after packing up all my stuff> way too many rods as usual! I went to a place I'd never been before called the cross Fla, canal. Some idiots tried to make a canal across the state once a long time ago and got about ten miles and gave up! I parked at hwy #19 about 10 miles north of Crystal River. When I finally got in my boat and under way, it was HOT!!! So I put up the bimini roof and flew down to the Gulf. It came out somewhere near Yankeetown into a large open area. Right away I saw birds diving in the water everywhere and under them fish crashing bait in massive swirls!! Spanish Mackerel and Jackcrevals were on a feeding frenzy delux! I started catching them right away on almost every cast! The jacks averaged from 1 - 5lbs and the mackeral from 2 - 5lbs. Jacks not any good to eat but fight like hell! Macks good to eat and fantastic smoked and are fast as lightning! I found a cut between tow islands and anchored because there was bait everywhere and fish smashing them around the island. I saw one large smash near the island w/ large mullet jumping out of the water on to the island trying to get away! I was using a small rod I built for my wife, very light w/ 6lb test line which I cast a small jig into the mealea!. Something hit my lure and took off for Cuba! My drag was screaming! about 15-20 minutes later w/ numb hands, soaking wet and back & neck in agony I net a 15+lb redfish! (I have a flip video to proove it!) Redfish are a prized gamefish which have to be between 18" & 27" to keep and you can keep only one a day! Awsome eating!!! This one was 33" and back in the water she went! ouch, man that hurt! Oh I'm so sorry about the long fish story when I should be answering you girls but I'm a fisherman who just had the best day of fishing since I move to this area!! Later on after catching about 100 jacks, mackeral a couple trout and a few sharks to 5' which I let go, I caught another redfish> 22" and a keeper YEA I headed in. So here I am, havent cleaned my boat or the fish yet sitting here covered w/ fish blood & snot writing to Y'all!
Now first Dani, I'm so sorry that your trip is ending this way and VERY worried about you making the trip home!!! Sounds like everyone had a blast at the mouse house! I'm glad you went but I'm sorry I didn't warn you about getting in there! I haven't been there since my kids were young so I didn't remember till I read your post! Is it OK if I call you to say goodby tomorrow? I'd like to tell you some things I didn't get to while you were here! Oh I'm red not sunburnt! I have too many red blood cells but I always use sunscrean!!! It's my color, I'm a redman! My Itallian Grandad had the same condition and when we were young, we thought he was an Indian Cheif!!! I should have it pumped out more often then I do!
Lorie, that is so nice & generous of you to offer me your tens!!!!! Maybe I can buy it from you for a discount? I would feel kind of funny just getting it as a gift??? I can't believe you are offering it to me!!! Oh how I wish I had one now!!! I can't evan tell you what hurts worse on my body, it's a mess! I'm really gonna have to take it easy this weekend!!! So Lorie, let me know what you think?? I'll give you my e-mail if yours isn't listed, I didn't look!
Man I love you all so much! I'd like to just squeeze you but I never would! I'd never want to hurt Y'all!!!! But here comes a massive cyber hug! Watch out, it's a bigun!!!
God Bless us one and all!
Pete
PS> I can flatout fish sometimes but man do I need a shower> P.U!!!!!!!!

lol Pete.  You're so funny.  I'm sorry you're hurting so bad, but it sounds like you had a great time fishing.  I wish I could come down there and go fishing with you.  My dad said he used to take me fishing with him when I was a teeny girl and I would catch more fish than he would because I kept him busy putting the bait on the hook.  I thought I would share that little bit with you.  I haven't been fishing in a long time except last summer when my husband bought a fishing rod and we went to the creek or whatever it is up the street from us.  He did the fishing and I watched.  I was afraid I would fall because the ground wasn't very stable getting down to the water.

wow i'm sorry i took your post over pete.  I hope your in less pain tonight and that you have a lpn.

Pete,

I've never been finishing (the closest I've ever come is watching Jeremy Wade in "River Monsters" on Animal Planet), but you sure make it sound like a ton of fun! With all the finish you do, you probably never have to go grocery shopping for fish. Actually, just add a couple of chickens and a couple of cows, along with your garden, and your grocery shopping days could be over! smilewinkgrin

I hope you're not hurting tonight from all the fishing you did (although I'm glad that you took a day for yourself & just went out and had fun)!

hugs,
Skeye

Hi Pete:

I did not pay anything out of pocket for the TENS unit, so I really don't want anything for it. It makes me feel good to think that I may be able to help reduce someone's pain some. I added my e-mail address to my profile, so just send me an address to mail it to, and it will be on its way!

I am glad you had such a great day fishing - I hope it took your mind off the pain for a little while.

Lorie,

God bless you for helping out our lovable Pete. You are remarkable.

Pete, take Lorie up on her offer. You deserve it and it can help you. I'm sure you would do the same for Lorie, or any one of us for that matter. You are just that kind of sweet person, like Lorie.

God bless you both.
