And a Happy Monday to all! Did you have a good weekend? Were you attending a back yard BBQ? Did you have to run errands with kids, grocery shop and take the cat to the vet? Were you traveling back home from vacation? Or did you have a nice afternoon nap with warm summer breezes softly blowing across your face? OK, I know it's a dream but they're still free...lol

What did you do this weekend? Is it something you'd like to repeat or try to avoid like the plague! I spent all weekend puttering and doing chores around the house. Had 3 year old(very soon to be 4) grandson over Friday night and when he went home on Saturday I was able to get a few things done around the house like several loads of laundry. Fixed dinner for hubby, grandson and myself. On Sunday I did get more done. More laundry and I actually weeded a flower bed today. It's been quite a while since I had weeds over an inch tall in the beds but these were candidates for grazing! Took a nice piece of salmon out of the freezer that my son caught and shared. It was so delicious on the BBQ. Then a quiet evening tonight while I get some computer time in.

How was your weekend?

Oh boy, that salmon sounded great! It's good to have a fisherman in the family> at least you know where the fish came feom and when it was caught! We don't have salmon here in Fla. but we do have redfish and I invited my wife's two lady friends over for a fish & steak dinner. I had taken the steak out of the freezer and had to use it so I figured it would go good w/ dinner. I fired up my smoker in the morning and smoked some spanish mackerel I had caught and were soaking in my secret brining solution over nite. Then grilled the steak and sauteed the redfish in butter, salt & pepper> didn't want to hide the flavor w/ a lot of spices, no need. It turned out sooooo good! I really need to fish harder and catch some more redfish!!! Everyone enjoyed the smoked fish appitizer and dinner and Carol who's been through some really tough times lately brought over a cheeze cake for desert!! Oh, coffee & cheezecake after that awsome dinner, I was in heaven! Good times w/ good friend, it doesn't get much better, well maybe if my boys & Mom were here!
Love to all!
When I was young & stupid I broke almost every bone in my body and I'm paying a heavy price now but I'm still here and so glad to see my two sons grow up to be fine young men, both are in the Navy. I'm so proud!

Yummy, Pete I sure wish I was your neighbor turn

I spent Saturday and Sunday cooking!!  My neice came over on Saturday she is 11 and loves to cook  and wanted to try making different things....so we made Spaghetti Squash, sauce with very hot sausage, then we fried onions and cabbage....then made my 100.5 yr old Granny her own Cabbage and Noodles (her favorite dish)....then we made a Dream Cake.  My neice thought she didn't like Sp. Squash or cabbage and found out that she loves them!  Made me very happy!  Yesterday, I made Chicken and a roast...the chicken is for my lunch for the week.  I've lost 50 lbs!!  I'm finding if I have meals prepared ahead of time its so easy to stay on track!!  BUT...Pete I'd much rather have some of what you made!!

I spent this weekend with my little girl (who is finally back from Hawaii). She was so happy to be home and I'm so happy to have her home! We didn't get too much done, though. A friend's husband OD'd on too many pain meds and is still in the hospital (but not doing so great). He's done this before, but he still doesn't know who she is and seems to be hallucinating quite a bit. It's really scary to see what happens when you abuse meds given by PM. It certainly helps keep me on the low end of my med spectrum.

Anyway, my husband had to be on call all weekend, so it was mostly my daughter and I. Next weekend will be the big father's day family gathering with his oldest daughter. That should be kind of fun...so we'll be cleaning and such this week to make sure everything is nice for her visit.

Boy Patti I haven't had fried cabage and onions in a long time !!! That sounds so good! I usually fry it with a little bacon or in bacon grease! Makes me hungry just thinking about it! I had ordered some new belts for my rider mower, as about two weeks ago or so, the power belt shredded and the mower would not move! Anyway the hardware store called me on Thursday and the belts were in, it took me all day on Saturday to get the mower apart and take the old belts off an put on the new ones. It was so very very hot and humid that day, I could only work at it an hour or so at a time, and then I would come in the house an sit in the recliner for a bit, and put on a dry Tee shirt and start over again, Three Tee shirts and 7 hours later I had it all done. and then it started raining cats and dogs, just what I didn't need my grass is already a foot high! I am hoping I can get it mowed today. Let the ex come and do the trim and the weed whacker part, the last time she did it, she broke the starter on the weed whacker and I had to order parts for that and fix it too! Anyway yesterday ( Sunday) most of the day I spent recuperating from working on the mower on Saturday, also our church had a going away potluck supper for our parish priest, at the parish hall,,( just after I work up from a rare late afternoon nap, ) I had forgot that it was a potluck so at the last minute I made brownies for desert, I never can leave well enough alone, so I fixed it up by adding walnuts (lots of them)) to the mix and topping it with powdered sugar, got them out of the oven, just in time to leave for the potluck. They must have been good as they were all eaten really fast!

That was my weekend.

I wish I had something nice to report. Sorry to put a downer in this beautiful thread. i was in bed all weekend as my pain is too horrific to do anything, i have to keep my head in ice. I did manage to go outside sat. night and put my annual flowers in my garden but I was in so much pain that i didn't enjoy doing, i cried and just hurried up so i could go back to bed.
Today is another day and we'll see what it brings. but the headache remains. I find it tough to do anything.
Please pray for me.

I worked all day Saturday. On Tuesday my mom found a baby robin in our driveway. He was too young to have left the nest willingly (he didn't even have all his feathers), so he must have fallen out. I looked all over for a nest/his parents, but I couldn't find anything. If I left him where he was, my cats would have gotten him, so I took him in & am raising him. I brought him to work with me on Saturday (since he has to eat every hour or so) & ended up coming home with my baby bird, plus an adult robin, plus a juvenille (~4 mo old) squirrel. The robin (who unfortunately died Saturday night) had nerve damage to a leg & a wing from a probable cat attack & there was nothing more that we could do for her medically. The squirrel was probably grazed by a car & has a broken leg. I've raised squirrels successfully before (from 2 wk old to 6 mo old). This little guy will be staying with me until his leg heals. The break was in a really bad place (right at the olecranon on the ulna), so we couldn't cast it. If he isn't much improved within a couple weeks, then I will bring him back to work & we will operate on the leg. There is no guarantee that surgery will be successful though (or that he'd survive the surgery), hence why we thought it best to wait & see. My house is becoming quite the rehabilitation center. All the animals have been keeping me busy, which is good. Still no word as to a new date for my stimulator trial.
