So I am not exactly sure what I was expecting, but I think my appt went fairly well.  He changed up my pain meds, and added Morphine so hopefully that works better then I will still use the Norco for break thru pain.  He also mentioned different plexus block, specifically Hypogastric Plexus Block for all my tummy pain.  Has anyone had this before?

Thanks again for all the advice yesterday!
I am a 29 yo female, Dx with UC in 97, hospital stays monthly, tons of blood transfusion, bowel rest on TPN, prednisone, asacol, sulfa, imuran, VSP
99- multiple failed remicade treatments, more hospital stays
finally in 2001 had enough and had total colectomy (j-pouch) surgery, 1st step was good, then the reversal was not such a breeze, got peritinitis which was awful!!
the rest of 2001-2006 were amazing!
now having problems again- they are thinking Crohns.- have been on Humira with no luck

Hi Krw135,

Thanks for the update! I'm pleased to hear that your appointment went well. Hopefully the new meds make a significant difference in your pain, without causing too many negative side effects. I've had many nerve blocks done, but seeing as my pain is in my face & not my abdomen, I can't help you with any information about the specific block that your doc recommended. Hopefully someone else will come along who will be able to help. We do have a fair amount of members with abdominal pain, so someone is bound to have had a hypogastric plexus block before!

hugs,
Skeye

Skeye,

WOW- face pain??? Ouch, I can't even imagine that. How does that happen? What exactly does it effect? your whole face?
Sorry if I am asking too many questions- aside from like TMJ, I have never really heard of face pain. but it sounds just awful:(

    Hello Krw 135!

It is always good to hear that an appointment with a PM went well. Lets hope the new meds will give you some relief!

I too, cannot help you with the Block information. See if you can look it up here on the web, or you might even do a search here on the furums to see if it turns up anything on it.

     Take Care!

I'm so glad your apt went well. Like everyone else so far, I'm lost about the block information, but I hope you will be able to find what you need online.

All my best to you!

Thanks guys! I have been googling it and there is not a lot of info about it, so that makes me nervous. But I will keep looking, and hopefully someone comes along who know about it! Thanks for all the hugs! I need them:)
