Here's a fun question for everyone today. I'm not sure what the weather is like where you live but here in the NW corner of the contiguous US it feels like we're well into fall. I was even thinking of building a fire in the woodstove today.

So when the weather turns to fall and heads toward winter, do you prefer a stormy night with a wonderful pot of homemade soup and some cuddling by the fire or is a romantic dinner at a nice restaurant with ambiance and terrific service more your style?

This one is simple for me...I'm all over the cuddling by the fire. Going out to eat is very low on my priority list. But often in winter I put a pot of beef on the woodstove to simmer away for several hours and by the time the guys are home and ready to eat I usually have some homemade rolls or biscuits hot from the oven to go with it.

So what's your style?

I am definitely a Fireplace kind of gal! I love to be cozy on blustery days, so like you, I make a big pot of stew or chili (and when I say I, I actually mean my husband). Then, I'll get a nice fire going (and when I say I, I actually mean my husband), and then I'll curl up with a book and a glass of wine (this part is actually me doing it, not my husband).

And sometimes...I drift off on the couch to all sorts of interesting dreams.

Hands up for the fireplace at home! We don't have a fireplace yet, but we have one of those cheesy space heaters that looks and sounds like one! rolleyes Thanks Sis for the fireplace/space heater! Anyway, I usually gather the whole family and we will make soup. We take votes, broccoli cheddar or cheesy loaded potato, beef vegetable, chicken noodle with homemade noodles, or ham and bean. Of course we must have sourdough bread, but I buy that and dont make my own any longer. Warm tea and cinnamon biscuits or apple tarts are nice too if it isnt near mealtime.

Here in Central Pennsylvania, we had last week which gave us a taste of fall, and we are back into the dog days of summer this week. Still, I began dreaming of warm apple pies, apple butter, cooked apples, apple cake and warm spiced apple cider. I love pumpkin too, and the family makes muffins to freeze and a massive amount of pumpkin funnel cakes. Everyone loves those. Fall is my favorite time of year!

Hey Chutz

I am from the same place (Pacific NW) and all I can think is "Is it November already?"
What happened???? I actually wore one of my winter sweaters yesterday!

Looking forward to this crearing out later today and ahead to a nice long weekend! We will be at our camping property, so of course there will be a fire, but a campfire instead. lol

Since I have to work 40+ I usually do the crock pot thing.... A good pot roast sounds SO yumm!

I love a good heavy fog with a heavy drizzle. Quite in every direction that you listen, as mother nature is preparing for tomorrow.

How about going out to eat...and then getting cuddle time by the fire after???

Lol...I am all about the food. I love to go out and eat, it is something that I have always enjoyed. $$ wise, it really has not been happening due to this or that coming up, but I really enjoy a nice place to eat. I love to be at home and get all close to hubby and I fire would be great.

Sorry I really didn't answer the question right... turn

I'm in Boston. The temperatures are in the mid-90s all week, so it definitely still feels like summer here. But autumn is my favorite season, so I am anxiously awaiting its arrival!

I like the staying home and cuddling by the fireplace part, but not the having to cook myself part. I actually don't like the cleaning up after cooking even more than the cooking. So the perfect situation would be having someone else do the cooking and cleaning while we get to snuggle by the fireplace, or perhaps watch a good movie together. But we all know that's not likely to happen, unless I hit the lottery. I guess that means I'd have to actually play the lottery, huh?

I do like going out to restaurants with my husband, but it's not something we can do that frequently, just the two of us. We go out with our daughter more frequently, but those outings are more stressful than fun for me. But my daughter loves it so much, I keep going. My husband and I actually have a date night this weekend (for our fourth anniversary, which is actually tomorrow). We still haven't decided what to do yet. It's hard to know what I'll feel up to, so I'm afraid to commit to buying tickets to anything beforehand.

I hope everyone has a good day today.

Well, we're in central Florida and it's 90 degrees.  We don't actually get a fall, so my favorite season is winter, definitely!  I love the cooler weather, but it doesn't get here until November or even December.  Sometimes Christmas is even in the 90's and we wear shorts.  I really wished we had moved further north, to tell the truth, but I couldn't face another move,  Neither husband or I are physically up to that anymore.  Besides, the grandchildren and daughter live a mile away.  I'm not going away from them.

But to answer the question, I always love eating out.  Whether it is winter or any season, I love eating out and coming home to an airconditioned house or a heated house.  It feels good to get out and I really don't like cooking.  The problem is I am a very good cook, so husband would rather eat in all the time, lol!

We have recliners next to each other and we hold hands while watching tv or just chatting.  That is always nice.

Have a great day everyone.

I absolutely love snow storms & cuddling up by the fireplace. There is something just so calming and relaxing about snow. I love how everything outside sounds and feels so quiet and at peace. It's beautiful.

hugs,
Skeye
