Happy Monday to all~

We haven't talked about food much lately so I thought a topic on sweets might be fun. What sweets are your favorite? Sweets can mean anything from a candy bar to grandma's pound cake. The sky is the limit on this one. But, if you post an exceptionally wonderful sounding homemade confection be prepared to share a recipe. tongue

I can narrow this down to something chocolate and after than the going gets tough. I don't understand eating things like gummy 'things' or hard candies. If it isn't chocolate, it's not candy...lol (OK, I bought the most disgusting gummy rats for grandkids birthday party treats. They loved them but I went for the M&M's) Anyway, if you somehow mix chocolate and a cheesecake you are getting mighty close to perfection. On special request I make a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Cheesecake to write home about! Time for me to quit drooling or I'll be in the kitchen getting into trouble. shocked

What is your favorite sweet?

Well Chutzie  funny you should mention this, as this past week I got a really bad hankering for some Pecan Brittle, so thursday I made up a batch of it, usually that is a winter time treat, but I just could not get past the urge to make it, and as my mom would say "I really got a really good stab on this batch! Tasty! Tasty!" It is a son-of-a-gun to make but Oh it is worth it!!! yeah yeah yeah

Oh boy....there's so many things I could list here, but I'm going to limit it to 2. First one is chocolate mousse. I love it so much (especially with an extra dollop of whipped cream on top!) and will eat it until I'm practically sick. The second sweet is my hubby Ray's famous Apple Crisp with homemade Vanilla Ice Cream.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

My wife has a habit of adding extra uncalled for ingredients to recipes from time to time, especially with left-overs. Every once in a while, she has success with her concoction,
but then again, the results can be a little less than pleasing. A fine example of that would be, the time she added some Cheetos to a Meatloaf! One bite of that, and I was filling out Divorce papers! :)

Now, here a while back, she came up with a Chocolate cake that would make Julia Childs Blush :)

Follow the direction as you normally would on the box cake mix, and add the ingredients listed below.

It is absolutely my favorite by far!

1. A Chocolate cake mix
2. 1/4 cup of Hazelnut butter, for the cake mix
3. 1-Tlbs Instant Coffee, for the cake mix
4. 1-Tlbs Instant Coffee, for the frosting
5. Any kind of canned premixed Chocolate frosting.

SE wink

Chutz and others, as I work my way through another sleepless night I opened up to read on HW and ran across this. The sweets are part of the reason I am enjoying the long night. I was out walking today and kept looking at the wild blackberries that abound here. My family enjoys it when I make them what they like. I spent time braving the thorns to pick many of those ripe little buggers. I came home and first cooked some up and then strained them and made syurp. I told the fam that I would waffles with home made blackberry syurp. Next I made a cobbler that I knew would go great with some vanilla ice cream on it for desert tonight. But the plans changed, my daughter saw I still had more berries and said that they would make a great milkshake. Sweets can be seasonal and I am not sure where this little journey is going to end but I guess while the vines are filled with ripe berries, I will keep expanding my imagination.

In the process, I was planning out dinner tomorrow night and am making a cabbage/green apple slaw. When I went to the store to get a couple granny smith apples, my mind hears my daughter saying, its that time of the year to make your famouse apple dumplings, so I now I also have to fit in the dumplings. The joys of sweets.
