Made it through the week while low on meds! Was able to do some drrep breathing and relaxation techniques. I think it helped somewhat. Sunday night was bad, no sleep at all. Probably from being very nervous about procedure. Called the Dr. office on Friday, to tell them to make sure they schedule enough time with Dr. because I wanted to make sure I got all my questions answered.

First was honest with him about my pain levels. Kept telling myself that he does work for me and not the other way around. He did change my script for one more a day, just in case I really needed more. He really did take his time with my husband and i before the procedure. He really does think that I need another surgery.(lets see what surgeon has to say on the 23rd) Any way he did a three level epidural. I must say that it was the most painful epidural I have ever had. And I have been having them for at least 8 years. Of course I forgot my Valium coming right from work. He hit a nerve and my lower right side flew off the table. Scared the heck out of me. He tried to get around my hardware and had a very hard time. I was soaked with sweat when it was finally over.
Usually I walk out with a low level of pain. This time had a hard time even walking.

Decided to keep a pain journal so that I can really tune in on my pain levels.

Well better get to work......Thank you everyone for all of your support. Don't think I could make it through all of this without everyone here.

Hope everyone has a great day.

OMG, glad to hear you survived and it is over. Now lets hope you get some relief. Its amazing what we will subject ourselves to in an effort to lower our pain levels. I think you have a great idea about the pain journal it will certainly pinpoint what is going on with you. I hope all turns out well with the appt with the surgeon. You know Hydrangea what has happened with you and the dr saying more surgery is needed is so darn typical of these drs. It just infuriates me when this happens, its just not fair to the patients. Oh well, don't get me started on that one, lol.

Take care and try to get some rest.

Hydrangea, it's always good to hear from you and find out how you are doing. I'm sorry you had so much pain with the epidural.

I've not had one of those, but the last time I had botox injected into my psoas muscle, I could feel the pain shoot all the way down my leg...even though the doctor put lots of local freezing in there. I have a hip joint injection happening tomorrow, and I'm hoping it's not going to hurt a lot. I have a pretty good idea of the type of pain you felt while he was doing it...and yeah, that's hard to handle. You did it though....so that's pretty darn impressive!!

I sure hope that you're feeling better today...and I'm glad he's giving you an extra pill a day. Sending good thoughts to you...

hugs,
Pam

Hydrangea,

The Pain Journal is a great thing to have! Where exactly did you get your epidurals? I have had a few of them and I think they are easier in the neck than getting them in the lower or mid back. I hate getting them there! I do wish you well with your visit with your surgeon. I know my Pain Doctor is sending me back to the surgeon he will not give me any more epidurals in my neck at C-3 he tells me that surgery is the only thing that will stop the pain, so I see the neurosurgeon the first of October, to see if he agrees! I hope everything turns out well for you and please let us know how your appointment goes with your surgeon!

Pam I just had a steroid injection into my right hip joint a couple of weeks ago, and it wasn't to bad at all, much better than the arthrogram of the hip, they had a dickens of a time trying to get the dye into the hip joint! Anyway my hip joint is bad and the steroid injection did nothing for me, so I see the Orthopedic surgeon tomorrow morning to see what he can do with it! I wish you well with your injection in your hip tomorrow!
