My dear family

Just letting everyone know that on June 1,2011 i travel to our state capital for an orthopedic exam of my leg so SSD can more accurately determine that I deserve SSD.

All the doc has to do is feel my swollen leg ,it is tight and puffy. Plus knee will not straighten out.  It is permanently bent.  The tibia is drastically crooked so I have a nonfunctioning limb.

I was told that the medical records that they received were inconclusive.  oh my gosh! That is unbelievable!!!

    Wish me luck!

Hi Betsey, don't worry about the appt it will go well. Yes, it is true if there is a question of any kind in your medical records they do send people out for an independant medical exam. I was also sent for one when I applied for SSD. I was at their website one day and was reading some things and one of them was the medical exam they often request and the purpose of it.

Take care.

I also wish you luck and will say some prayers. I'm sure the appointment will go fine. As you said, when they see and feel your leg, they will know that you deserve to get the SSD. Take care. I hope you're having a low pain evening.

love and hugs

My Friends

here it is the exam day. I managed to wash my hair and yesterday I washed up myself. It is such a big ordeal to do that. my ride fell thru so I had to scramble for anither one. Nothing is ever easy is it?

I am nervous and I was told to tell the orthopedic exam doc about all my aches and pains and concerns, so i quess I will do that.

i removed all my fingernail polish because it was all chipped and filed my nails so I would be ready for my surgery on Monday.

Well when I get back from the SSD exam I will post about it.

Everyone have a low pain day.

I just got back from exam and xrays for my SSD. Well the doctor was dressed in a suit and dictated into the machine about my leg and asked questions about what do i do around the house during the day? i told him nothing, i am incapable of doing everyday household chores.

He squeezed my leg in various places and tried to make my knee cap move which is impossible to do. The end result was I was in extreme pain and my vicadin wasnt touching the pain ....He never asked about if there were other areas that bother me and yes there is...my back and arms and right leg.

I feel that the exam was imcomplete not thorough enough, and i feel like I drew the short straw.

He did tell me that he thought that I am incapable of household chores but hopefully after I get my knee replaced and with an uneventful recovery that I could work somewhere. I cant even think that far ahead, all the stuffings have been knocked out of me.

Both the family doc and pain doc are dragging their feet on writing a note for me to have a stair chairlift and a caregiver which is medically necessary. My surgury is june 6 and I will need a caregiver beginning 6-8-11

I had to go to a separate facility for xray and by then I couldnt hobble anymore. I got the xrays taken and then my neighbor drove me home. We were on an interstate highway where the speedlimit was 55 and he was doing 42 MPH. I thought we were going to get hit but we lucked out everything was fine.

That was my day and I still cant get on top of the pain.

I went to bed early last night after spending hours in my recliner with legs up and affected leg on a king size soft bed pillow so my entire leg was supported. that helped but i was exhausted.

I had a fitfull sleep, alot of tossing and turning and here it is the beginning of a new day. i am apprehensive about my surgery and if I will have any home care next week. I know that worrying doesnt change anything but that is just me. The closer I get to Monday the more my palms sweat. i always like to get all my ducks lined up in a row and it isnt happening.

Stay in touch , my friends, cause I would love to hear from you.

Hi Betsey, I'm so sorry that they are making you jump through rings for your SSD. I was just aprover in fact I just got the letter from my Judge yesterday explaining how he came to the conclusion that I am dissabled and can NOT do any work what so ever! It explained a lot that I was wondering about! They completely through out the exam by the dr. they made me go see since he didn't do the exam, his PA (physicians assistant) did the exam> What a waist of time and $$$!!

Did they ask you to go see a shrink? They made me see one and I finally got to read in this letter what she wrote about me! She stated that her impressions of me were major depression and recurrent anxiety disorder Also that my short term memory is horrable (her words!) and I suffer from a very low self-esteem> (No Kidding!)

So anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is that they really make all of us jump through hoops no matter how good our claims of dissability may seem! I think it's just the game you have to play in order to get SSD!!! It's a shame they put us through all this when I believe most of them really believe we are dissabled but I guess they are just doing what is expected of them!

So Good Luck Betsey, I'm sure if you jhust keep doing what the ask of you and make sure all your paperwork is in order, you will get SSD, it may just take a while!!!
Big Hugs> Your Buddy,
Pete
