Hello. I am 30 and have suffered with chronic pain for 8 year, severe pain (w/ strong narcotics) for over 4 years. I am a RN who is unable to work anymore due to pain and mobility issues. I injured myself when I was 21. I too wonder what life has in store for me, when I can barely move, can't go to a store without a scooter, etc. If you'd like to chat, please email me.

I am 23 and have been dealing with chronic pain since I was 18 when I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis; the disease didn't affect my life until my second year in college. I didn't even know it was considered a disability. Anyway in january of 2007 I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, then in June of 2007 I was diagnosed with raneud's disease and systematic lupus (SLE). yeah Currently  I am new to this online community and have never done this before; I just need an outlet or someone to understand; ecspecially since the onset of the fibromyalgia, raneud's, and lupus (SLE). I live in a small community, by the grace of god and understanding professors at my college I graduated with a B.A in English and a minor in French. But where I live there is not very much need for either, so vocational rehabilitation center were able to secure a grant to start a yoga business, mild yoga mind you, which I got into initially 5 years ago b/c I needed a low impact exercise. Unfortuanatley after one year in business I had to close which was in January of 2007 prior to the onset of all the other 3 illnesses, the point is I really tried to make an effort to work but I couldn't handle it due to chronic pain and fatigue ya da ya da. I take 25-30 pills a day now; constantly up and down; correction every day is crapty there are just different levels when waking up on how crapty one will feel.
I am in the middle of an SSDI case with my ALJ hearing in early november of 2007. The biggest factor against me is my age; I am so frusterated b/c I constantly feel I have to justify my diseases b/c to the common person I don't look extremely sick.I am so nervous for my SSDI case hopefully having an attorney will help me. Have any advice on the hearing or the chances of succeeding I would think four diseases would be a shoe inn, and the insomnia, depression, and chronic anxiety.
I just feel as though I cannot take anymore and I am sick of justifying my illnesses. sad

Hi, you will not regret talking to people on here. It really helps speaking with people who are going through something similar. I am 30, I can remember mild back pain back to high school. I have been mis-diagnosed many many many times. I am on about 6 meds (as of the moment I am typing this) and I can not tell you how many times I have felt isolated from my friends and family. They can still shop, jog, even sit in a chair without moving around the entire time. I have about 4 things going on- all I can remember is L-4 & L-5 are bulging and I have nerve damage in both legs. At one point I missed 2 weeks of work in a month due to the pain. I seriously looked into disablity (with online and local lawyers) and here was the common response ..."due to your age and the fact you are educated, they system will not work for you. You will be considered as young and educated- that means somehow you can work"... I just gave up. I have a bachelors in business and I am trying to get my Masters in business and finance. Education is hurting my chances of work. Unbelievable. If you can find a loop-hole please let me know. Good Luck- keep me updated!

I am also 27 and suffer from chronic pain from 2 injured discs in my lower back and from my dysplastic hip. I've been suffering for about 6 years and it just gets worse and worse as I get older. Look at my signature for my chronic pain info and medications.

I feel like a 27 years old trapped in a 80 years old body.
Born with hip dysplasia in left hip, 2 surgeries to fix it when I was a very small toddler.

Also, 2 injured discs in lower back at L3-L4 and at L4-L5.

Zyprexa 5 mg
Zoloft 25 mg
Valium 10-15 mg
Lortab 10 mg/500mg 1-2 tablets
Soma 350 mg 1-2 tablets
Ibuprofen 400 mg 1-2 tablets

I am not quite 27 anymore, but I understand and posted under the Methadone anyone? thread with my battles of Chronic Pain, I am a RN as well who can't work as nurse anymore d/t pain. I posted a pretty lengthy post that is a very small abridged version, but describes some of what I have been through since I was 22, oh btw I am 36 now. I have dealt with this for 14 yrs and being on huge meds and quit cold turkey due to frustration, only to go back on the meds. I am currently looking for a new doc in DALLAS area that might be better than my current doc. Feel free to email me anytime @ Hephaistion at fastmail dot us

hi! I am 30 years old with 2 small children. i have been sick since the birth of my first child. I've been told that i have chronic fatigue, chronic ebv, fibromyalgia, blah blah blah. Recently I found out I have arthritis in my spine, hashimoto's and possible rhuematoid arthritis due to positive rh factor and joint pain. it is very hard to deal with. my husband gets upset when I can't do everything i used to be able to do, and people have a hard time understanding what a nightmare this all is especially when you look so normal. The hardest part for me is the guilt I feel with my children. The pain and fatigue interfere with alot of things that I would like to do with them and when I push myself I get so sick afterwards that I'm totally useless.the pain is bad enough but it's the nauseating fatigue that bothers me the most. i sound like such a complainer, i don't mean to i just want you to know, i understand
