I am wondering what the difference is between disc bulge and a mild broad based disc bulge i kinda think i know but not 100% sure, I know what the bulge is but what broad based mean. Also i have a slight compression of the subarachnoid space ventrally and with minimal accentuation to the left side i have looked on the internet but unable to understand or find what i am looking for thanks for responses Twiggy2

thanks so much that helped me greatly you have a great weekend too. Take care Twiggy2 i guess a compression means just that somewere there is a compressed vertebrae anyway i thanks again. Also to i am wondering that somewere down the road that they will become worse and herniate which sometimes it feels like i have. What do i do if i think i have herniated a disc?

Hi twiggy, I have almost the same MRI report. I have a protruding disc at L4-5 and they mentioned sever degeneration at these disc. also have some neck problems. I go to the pain doc on Oct 9th so the doctor can fill me in on the report and just what it means. It's hard to understand the reports sometimes, mine didn't sound to good. I thought to myself am I in that bad of shape, falling apart lol. I have sciatica I guess from the protruding disc in L4-5 hurts like crazy in my buttocks area down my leg.

Anyway I undrestand your pain, but don't understand exactally what the broad based means.

Good Luck,

Mercyme

thanks for the reply mercyme nice to meet you, i have been in constant pain now for about a 2 years, after complaining enough to my doctor he finally sent me for tests MRI CT SCANS, that is how the disc situation appeared. But he said that was not likely to be what is causing the pain, as i felt different about his opinion he did another MRI a few months ago and this is were we found that i had more bulging disc, and the compression etc. Surgery is not an option. According to him i am however going to request that i get reffered to a specialist. I am currently waiting for a response from disability for approval or non approval, at one point i asked him what the chances of the discs herniating and he said that i most likely would not unless i do something servere enough to herniate, again disagree. Having now found out that i have DDD and broad based disc bulges etc i think that it would be quite easily to herniate a disc but that is my opinion LOL. Anyway keep in touch and we will chat back and forth with each other. I think broad based means what gramps was saying that it is a bigger bulge or multiple bulge in the same area still trying to find out info on it. Thanks for letting me vent take care Twiggy2
