I didn't want to highjack anothers post, but I think I got a lot of answers.  My mom had a medtronic pump put in about a year and a half ago.  Apparantly the cath slipped and she ended up with a tumor at the site.  She just underwent surgery again to remove the tumor and replace the cath.  They thought they woukd have to replace the whole thing on her other side.  She just got back from the neuro and she may be having it removed.  After this surgery she had bad pain different then the pain she originally had.  She has numbness in her legs plus she'd getting bad spasms.  SHe has also lost feeling related to having to go to the bathroom.  So the doc is worried about getting a nerve.  She had a catscan today to see if he could see anything if not she'll get an MRI.  But he said he may have to remove it.

My folks knew about none of these problems before hand and are obviously quite stressed.

Gramps thanks so much for the info.  I do not have back problems and I posted on several different back sites and you were the only one who replied.  So I greatly appreciate it.  She'll find out tomorrow if they are going to take it out.

Thanks :-)

Hello, my grandmother had a pain pump put in about year and half ago and the cath came out and twisted twice so she wasnt getting any pain relief period, it seems to me that the pain pump causes way more problems then it solves, i think they are a bad idea from all the stories I hear.
