This question is for those who work out and lift weights...my usual routine is weight training 3 days a week and 4 if I have the time.
I havent been in the gym since Oct when I flared. I am going into remmission now and am feeling substantially better...However I am still taking 30MG of prednisone and will be tappered off by March.
Is it okay to lift while taking prednisone...I notice that I do get ache or sore joints and stiff limbs sometimes while doing regular things around the house. I am anxious to get back into the gym but have never worked out on prednisone before and not quite sure if its safe...

I was teaching and practicing a really active form of yoga while on pred, and I lost all my muscle-tone, which was a drag, but it came back after getting off pred. I was also REALLY flexible, which was kinda cool. it seems to me if you feel good, go for it.
48 y/o woman.  Diagnosed 4/06 after colonscopy, SBFT, CT-scan all showed crohns. 3 months later, after pred and remicade, all tests showed no crohns. In December had adhesions cut through a laparoscopy. Now just taking Glycolax, metamucil and vicidin as needed.

Well I actually started Bikram this summer. I was interested in starting that again however...I was nervous because its practiced in 105 degree heat...and I know there is a corelation between being on Prednisone and your blood pressure and didnt know how being in 105 degrees for 1.5 hours would affect me...I dont want to pass out in class...that would be imbarrassing.

I lifted while I was on pred...as you know, wieght bearing exercises help keep bones strong and healthy...if you're unsure, go back to light lifting and increase as necessary to the point at which you feel safe.

My bum is broken....there's a big crack down the middle of it!  LOL  :)

I've done very intense training while on prednisone, I honestly felt like it gave me more energy to work out..
