TMI warning!!!!! I have a question for all those who have had resection. Mine was in the second half of my colon. I've noticed quite a bit lately no matter how much I wipe and with what that I always seem to have s*^t a couple of hours later. Even after I take a shower and scrub myself back there. I have discovered that is what is causing my itchy butt. Is it possible that because of the resection and removal of my sigmoid colon that I don't have as much control as before? I'm thinking that I'm not able to totally release all my poop and some is left behind and comes out an hour or two later. I'm also thinking that is why my gas is sometimes sooooooo soooooooo stinky. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Vicky,

Hello, I am sorry you experiencing this problem.

There may be a significantly different leakage owning to the inability to defer stool, the inability to discriminate flatus (gas) from stool and incomplete emptying due to the amount of bowel removed and the location of the anastomosis.  May I suggest that you bring this to your physician's attention to see what he feels is causing the problem and what can be done to help you out.

Wish I had a better answer. :)

Take care

Kitt

Check out this site - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anal_fistula
I was informed that I had a fustula by my GYN 27 years ago, and the GYN tried to repair it immediately following my sons birth, but it didn't hold.  It's easier to handle when you know what it is - I wear minipads all the time - buy the economy pack!  Check this out with your MD, tho, to be sure it's what it is, but they are very common with Crohn's.

There is something called leaky gut. The gut leaks more the more inflammated intestines or colon.
