First of all, Happy New Year! I don't want to come off as "Mr. Crohns" or something but as you can probably see below I've been through it all including 11 surgeries now(made this profile 2 years ago). But I live in New Orleans and am headed to the Sugar Bowl in an hour or so and in a week I get to see my LSU Tigers play for the national championship! These are small things but they are part of what I'm looking forward to in 08....those of you with SERIOUS Crohns or those who are confused and just diagnosed(or don't even know you have it at all), no matter your situation there's still a lot of good to get out of life! Thanks to some great friends I've had a great New Year and am going to experience some really fun stuff, the memories of which I'll never lose. If you're really down, remember, THIS TOO SHALL PASS, I've lived by that motto more times than I can ever count. And if you're up, more power to you.

Just want to send some New Years cheer out there....Auld Lang Syne and all that crap. Enjoy life as best you can....you can handle the bad parts if you keep a good attitude(I sound like an idiot preacher but its true)!

Happy New Year everyone, keep your collective chin's up!!
34 Year old male-diagnosed with Crohn's at 15. 10 surgeries from 88-03. Have tried Remicade, Asacol, Imuran, Pentasa, and Prednisone and haven't really responded to any of them. Chronic diarrhea since 92. Due to such a short bowel a good day is 10 bathroom visits,25 on bad days. Also still have plenty of pain/cramping. I'm on Oxycontin 160mg and a Duragesic Patch 50. Just went on disability, can't work unfortunately. 11 surgeries, you can go to the head of the class..........I am impressed and you still have a positive attitude, kudos to you.  Friends really help and I hope if we have anyone that feels isolated they will come forward and let us help them.

We are here to care and support and each small step is a step in the right direction.

Have fun on your trip. God Bless. :)

Thanks,I needed that,my followup scope for Humira is next week, and I'm very nervous about it,my "problem" is that I feel great since being on Imuran for almost two years, but still have inflammation,so with the Humira,my GI's hopes are to decrease the inflammation more so he can balloon a stricture,so I'm just a wreck, and now I realize I should shut up and stop stealing your nice thread,I'm sure I'll post my own "freaking out "thread" next week.

Happy New Year :-)

phishead, your words of encouragement are so very welcomed.  But, how, do you do it.  I mean, you've been through so much, how did you stay above water?  I'm having a hard time emotionally & sometimes I just want to give up.  I remember being a very outgoing gal, working work & being strong.  I am now the opposite.  I just can't seem to get back to my old happy self.  And I have so much to be happy about, just don't get it, I try but those depressed thoughts keep running in my head.  God Bless!
Dx with CD 1987, 3 resections, 3 abcess sx, OA back & hips, bulging disk, Major depression/anxiety, kidney stones & sx to remove, now 44 yrs old.  Still trying to figure this disease out & of course all the little extra complications that come with this rollarcoaster of a life with CD.
