During Christmas time, I let fun and friends get the better of me.  I ate and drank one evening as though I was like my friends who don't need to think twice about what they put in their stomachs. Nachos, beer, fried food....get the picture. I was so sick that night and the next day.....but I didn't get too worried b/c I thought it served me right for thinking that I could handle such craziness..both because of Chron's and my age.

But now, a full week later I still feel awful.  I have pains....One night I had such bad cramps (felt like period cramps but intensified by a hundred) that I thought I was going to pass out, I have no energy and I've alternated between C and D. I started to think I might have a stomach flu or something, but now I think it's all from not watching my diet and drinking for one night.

How long will this last before I get back on track?   I'm still really new to this Chron's stuff so any advice is welcome.

Hey there

I don't believe anyone can give you an answer to how long as it is hard to know what is going on.  Do you have the flu?  Is it your Crohn's?  Tough call for members to even suggest what they may think about your issues.

If it does not get better, you should follow up with your physician.

Wish I could give you a definitive answer.

I'd pay attention to your temp. If its low grade or none at all, its CD. High its more likely Flu. You should keep up your fluid intake, even after all these years, I keep ending up dehydrated and not realizing it. But basically CD or Flu, treat yourself kindly. Take it really easy, rest, no heavy cleaning or working. Nap if you feel like it. Basically act like a cat! Eat really bland easily digestible foods, things you know you can tolerate. If things don't improve after the weekend, call your doctors office to check in to see what they would like you to do. BUT, if things get worse, in any way, you need to either get to the ER or at least have someone with you. You don't want to be spiking a fever or really dehydrated and be all alone in the middle of the night on the weekend! Please take care, and don't beat yourself up over this. We've all done this at one time or another. And yes, we've all paid for it and it stinks!
