Just whining a bit to people who understand...

I suspected I was starting to flare last week - had horrible cramps, D, gas, fatigue, aches & pains... it would stop for a couple of days and then start right up again.  So... I thought, well, is it just the IBS? It's not unusual for me to "cycle' like that, but this was very painful and scary - I was just poured out, so to speak.  No mucus or blood tho... so I'm thinking, maybe the crohn's is flaring, which I don't know if I've ever had a real "flare" before but there was just something bad about this that went beyond the ususal IBS.   And my blood sugar was acting up too, which I usually control with diet.

Well, this week is much better already, so I was back to thinking it's just IBS...

But then!  I was at the store last night, thinking to pick up some chammomile tea, since I had used up the few that were in the house - and reading the label, like a good little celiac, guess what - it has WHEAT!  We had a box of chamomile tea in the house my son bought (who knows when) that I had never touched before until last week, but I heard it was soothing, so I tried it - several times since it was very yummy.  Who knows if I read the label or not - it's tea, for crying out loud.  But it wasn't IBS, it wasn't Crohn's - it was gluten!   I can't believe I made that mistake.  As my hubby said - you're about a dumb___ !  He can't believe I didn't read the label either.  I'm usually very anal about the celiac/gluten stuff.

Geez!  I'm soooo thankful my crohn's is not bad and will hopefully stay that way.  But there are days that can be so overwhelming dealing with all of these stupid diseases and conditions at the same time.

Okay - I feel better now  cool   thanks for listening...

Yes - I've been gluten-free since July of 2003.  Know all the in's and out's of celiac.  But never really got totally well - thus the crohn's diagnosis this last fall.

Becky don't beat yourself up, we all do it. I am not on a gluten free diet, but am very careful with eating red meat. I haven't had it since last March. And I won't again because that gives me blockage like pains. Glad that it wasn't flare only a little boo-boo.
Been living with Crohn's Disease for 32 years.  Currently on Asacol, Prilosec 60 mg, Estrace, Prinivil, Diltiazem, Percoset prn for pain and Calcium.  Resections in 2002 and 2005.  Recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and doing tests to see if I have Inflammatory Arthritis or AS.
