Hello.  I am new here.  I have Crohn's.  I have been undergoing stricture dilitation for the last 6mos thru Endoscopy.  I have recently elected to have a Bowel Resection to cut out that area.  I am scheduled for surgery next month.  I have been experiencing pain, nausea, bloating and fatigue.  I am hoping this procedure will rid me of my ailments.  Has anyone had the same, and did the resection help or just make more scar tissue to stricture again?

I'd like to extend a warm welcome to you on your first visit to Healing Well! To help you get the most out of the Crohn's Forum please take the time to browse our threads.
My hubby has had 3 surgeries for strictures and has done very well between surgeries. Remember, however, each person's disease process takes a different course.
I wish you the best and again welcome to HW.

hey fumpy, although it should help in the near term, long term , the disease activity will likely return in the same area. its just how it works. i, like you waited many times before undergoing the surgeries. it always helped, but it always came back. i used to live for the "free" time between operations. my longest was about 3 years. hey, good luck and keep us posted. randy

might I suggest consulting with a colo-rectal surgeon if your not already doing so. would check into whether a strictureplasty might be an option for you? i have had one bowel resection and have done very well since and am glad i had it. however, i do wish there had been more info and experience then with strictureplasty. good luck!

Yes, I had a Strictureplasty in 2003. Only gave me temporary relief. I live in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada, I am a Registered Nurse. We don't have Colo-rectal surgeons, but we have great Internal Medicine Doctors and General Surgeons. I have known them since first being diagnosed in 1996, with a Bowel Resection, fistulas, etc. I haven't had trouble up until 2003. We have been trying to avoid the resection, but I am ready for it, and I am tired of my symptoms. Thanks for your info though
