I'm reading the Maker's Diet book as I have heard good things about
it. I have mild to moderate Crohn's and so I think it might be a good route for me to go before things get worse. I've really appreciated reading about
people's success with the diet on this forum. I've also read some of the criticisms of the book as well here, which have been helpful as well.
So, after reading the first 100 or so pages, I have a couple of questions for folks who follow this plan
-do you take the "black powder" which Rubin named "HSOs or Homeostatic Soil Organisms"? (p. 28)
-is the "black powder" necessary to successfully follow the diet?
-do you purchase the HSOs from Rubin's store, Garden of Life, which he started after he was "forced to find a way to distribute the HSOs that had helped me get well." (p.28)
-do you follow Rubins "clenzology" program and use the products from his website for that?
-have you had success with the diet without the clenzology program and products?
Basically, I'm going to try the eating part either way...but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to spend the extra $$ to buy his products, especially if the diet is successful without them. I'm just a little skeptical that the products are neccesary to improve my health. I'd appreciate thoughts from anyone who has tried any variation of the diet.
