I remember seeing some posts about people who had gained weight on Remicade. I have gained 17 punds since I have been on Humira. Anyone else out there put on weight with Humira?

Yes, I sure have...I have gained about 10lbs since starting Humira 4 months ago, due to the fact that my bouts of D went from a dozen times per day to about twice per day, thank goodness.
How long have you been taking Humira?

If Humira is lessening your symptoms, there is a good chance that your intestinal inflammation is lessening. If that is the case, then you might possibly be absorbing nutrients from food better. Along with absorbing the good parts of food, you will absorb the not-so-good parts like fats and carbs. You might want to assess your diet and see if fine tuning will help.

I have gained about 4 or 5 pounds in the past 4 months....I am in agreement with Ides...I am pretty sure that it is all due to a better absorbtion rate...I was anemic and now i am not....I still have lots of trips to the bathroom and cramps and so forth...for me the only positive result from the Humira has been the reversal of my weight loss and the absorbtion factor.

oh my god i thought i was nuts. I have gained weight too. I thought maybe steriods. I have always lost weight on steriods. So i started thinking maybe humira. Def has to be that we feel better and are absoring stuff. All my hair fell out because of not absoring nothing with all the diaherra. I go to the bathroom now 1-3 times a day and it is normal and hard. I still ocassional get my bouts of Diaherra but for the most part it is hard/soft but formed. It beats going10-12 times a day. I have fine tuned my diet as much as i can since fruits and vegtables are out of the question. High protein low fat diet. I am thirsty all the time too?? So maybe mine is water too. And im working out like crazy because i feel good to do that. So maybe muscle? Anyone else?

For several years I have been fighting to keep weight on and it always varied between about 115-120. I have been on Humira for about 4 months now but have put on about 10lbs in the last month, before that I was holding pretty steady. I think Ides is right, my body is finally able to absorb nutrients that it hasn't been able to in years and I'm putting weight on. Plus, as I said above, my diarrhea has decreased very significantly. I used to complain because I would have to buy smaller clothes every couple of months but now I'm complaining because all of my clothes are tight and don't fit right...haha...it's fantastic!!

I gained about 8lbs in the first couple of months after starting Humira but that was it, I haven't gained any more in the last 6-7 months. I also agree it is the absorption thing. MB
