I'm really asking this for a friend that I am concerned about. Me myself have been diagnosed with Crohn's so when she told me this it sort of sparked my curiousity.
My friend said she has been experiencing stomach problems for the past few months. She's lost over 30 lbs. She said she has been having blood in her stool. She went to a family doctor who told her she had a fissure. She is pretty sure that isn't what it is because the blood is actually IN her stool, not coming out afterwards. She also said that sometimes the area around her colon gets swollen, like visibly. Have any of you ever experienced this with your Crohn's? Personally I never have but the blood in the stool sort of tipped me of to what I have experienced.

What do you think? Sound like Crohn's or something else?

It could be colitis, it could be a fissure, colon cancer, Crohn's etc.. She needs a full work-up by a gasroenterologist

Tell her to get a referral to a GI, no point in putting it off with those symptoms...personally I'm betting it's crohns, but it could be UC...either of those 2 are my guess is all.

My first serious problems were blood in the stool--and lots of it, along with a large fissure and weight loss. You could be describing me years ago. I agree that she needs an appointment with a GI right away. I suffered for about 5 years with those problems and just got the run around.
