I know that this is a touchy subject sometimes, but I am wondering if anyone on here has gotten any help regarding that (granted there are only like 10-11 people in the US that have done the treatment), if anyone has seriously looked into it, etc. I found some info by just Google-ing "Crohn's + Stem Cell", and there is a website for this kid who is 15(?) www.helpbryan.com -- he's going to be or is the 11th person to receive stem cell therapy.....

Just curious really.... eyes

Hope everyone is well....

My CD is acting up here and there, but I think it's mainly due to me having the Flu. I've been sick since the 1st really. It's DRIVING ME NUTS to not be able to ride my horse... (For those of you who know me, we got 2007 All Breed High Point! Yay!)

Well Wishes ya'll!

It isn't touchy with me. I would do anything I could to get well. Stem Cells can be grown without fetal cells by the way. There are many things that can be done with proper funding. Good luck to us all.

It's actually not necessary for it to be "touchy" since researchers figured out using stem cells from our own skin is the latest greatest discovery, to help with diseases and such.

Don't mean to be the pessimist here, but funding is a big issue on this one! Being able to grow our own treatment(s) from stem cells would put the drug manufacturers out of business now wouldn't it!

Sleepy- I wish I could help you with more info. I think all CD patients should be advocates for this research and do everything we can to get it funded! It may turn out not to be the magic bullet but it is a very interesting alternative!

No, not necessarily, consider the cost of this stem cell therapy, I'm sure it won't be cheap...not to mention, there are many, many things people take meds for....even when they don't need them...drug companies out of business, I doubt it.

There are a couple trials going on in Chicago with this...  http://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT00179842?term=crohn%27s+stem+cell&rank=6

If I could be away from home/daughter for a month, I'd seriously consider...  Given how much Prochymal helped in the one 4 -infusion series.

I am sure the drug companies will strike a lovely deal with the stem cell "companies" once they come to be mainstay.
