... the accident club that is!

So my flu or flare is still not doing great.  The vomitting stopped but the naseau is still there.  I was curled up on the couch when I thought I might have farted and then I realized oh boy I just pooped my pants!!! So although this is most likely flu related and not crohns I feel part of the club.  It was too much of a mess to try to salvage so my undies and sweatpants are in the outside trash.  I worry that even that will stink too much.  My bathroom smells like a cesspool.  At least I'm the only one home.  It is 2:12pm and I had been planning on trying to make my 5:00 class b/c it meets less frequently than my others.  That is so out of the question now.  I am not even sure if tomorrow is doable.  This sucks big time.

And I am typing from my toilet because I am so afraid to pull up my pants.  If the last squirt came without warning how can I be sure it isn't going to happen the second I pull my pants up.  GRRRRRRR......

So sorry Fitzy that you are feeling so poorly. Make sure you are keeping up your fluids, so that you don't get dehydrated. My GI told me to try to take a sip of water, gatorade or pedialyte every 5 minutes. I happen to be on the couch right now, doing the same thing. :)
Been living with Crohn's Disease for 32 years.  Currently on Asacol, Prilosec 60 mg, Estrace, Prinivil, Diltiazem, Percoset prn for pain and Calcium.  Resections in 2002 and 2005.  Recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and doing tests to see if I have Inflammatory Arthritis or AS.

Well if you took a poll among Crohnies I suspect those who have at some poiint experienced a big mess in their britches would be somewhere north of 80%, so don't feel alone . . . it's a very large club.

Never lose your sense of humor as only a Chronie would admit to sitting on the toilet and typing away.  Be kind to yourself and know that you have so many here supporting you.

Being a nurse, when I was working and patients had a really nasty accident I am guilty of tossing the soiled gown into the garbage and bagging the evidence.  In frustration I have also cut those cute little ties on the backs of gowns to free the patient.  I was often tempted to find the nurse who put the wrong kind of gown on a unresponsive patient with 8 !V lines running through that one armhole in the gown.

Hope your potty seat is padded.  Gentle hugs to you.

I'm sorry you feel so lousy. I have just gotten over being sick for a month with what I thought was a Crohn's flare, but it was actually Salmonella. Get your stool tested if you don't get better soon! And, yes, I belong in the "accident club." No fun at all!

Gastroenteritis had me puking into a garbage can while filling the toilet. This lasted three days and I too joined the club a time or two during those three days. Looking back I should have taken my doctors advice and done the er and IV thing. I would have been less miserable.
Anyway you aren't alone-It has happened to most of us.

I'm in the midst of another flare up or an intense part of a flare up I guess its been a flare up the entire time it was just a worse nigth than usual last night. I had a bucket in front of me for vomit and sitting on the toilet for the big yummy diahrea. Sometimes I wonder how our bodies can handle all of this. :-(

I hope you feel better soon Fitzy.

Don't feel bad Fitz....accidents like that happen to everyone...my nastiest one was while walking home with my sister.....had to pitch my brand new jeans, undies, shoes and panty hose in the garbage. While I was sitting in the tub washing the rest of the nasty mess , I was suddenly thankful that I'd had panty hose on otherwise, there would have been a trail leading right up to my front steps!.
God bless you for admitting that you are typing while on the toilet....you made me laugh out loud!
Gee Whiz though, I hope you are feeling better soon....this stinks!(pardon the pun).
Love and prayers to you always.

Hope you're feeling better by the time you read this, Fitzy.

I thought I might make you giggle by telling you the first "poopin' in mah pants" incident I had since I was like 4.

So I was in the hospital (first time ever for more than a cold or anything) and I'm on an IV (also, 1st time.) and prepping for my emergency colonoscopy later on in the morning. Basically I was scared and nervous and exhausted from running to the bathroom with my IV thingy. Not to mention, I ended up flooding the whole ER from the toliet bursting after one of my GoLytely episodes...... It's now about 3 a.m. and I'm done drinking the crappy prep and beyond tired. I am afraid of sleeping because I don't want to have to run any faster than I have been, right? Well..... I fell asleep. BAD IDEA. The door on the room I was in opened towards me, and I had it shut. I woke up and had to go NOW, and in the midst of everything, I remembered that my IV thingy was on the opposite side of the bed from me, which meant I couldn't get out without closing the door, wheeling it over and re-opening the door. Too late. There it went, all over. Everywhere.....no control, out under the door, into the hall, right up to the nurses station. Yup... There I was standing in my own feces as I watched it make a tidal pool in the hallway of the ER. Oh, and wouldn't you know it, my fiancee at the time shows up RIGHT then. Heh. Great night. Thankfully my night was made better when the ever-so-kind nurse saved my socks for me.

Now I can laugh about it, and I hope by reading that, you could giggle too.

Hugs,

~Sonia~

Fitzy welcome to the club!!  Yup most of us have been there at some time or another.  We really should have music in the club, but maybe not dancing :-)  I hope things are "shaping" up better for you now.

I had the didn't make it problem twice where it was ugly.  Once was at home, once in a bowling alley that I stopped at to try to make it to their potty.  I will never eat prime rib again even in the smallest bites :-)

Fortunately, my husband had a very minor accident once and now understands my concerns.  Even non CDers can come to our club.  We don't segregate ourselves!

Dx'd '90 (emergency rupture), symptoms ignored long before that, '03 fistulas and bad flagyl reactions, B12 weekly, Pentasa [until I surrender to the bigger meds]
I'm riding on the escalator of life....
