Just found out my GI doc has moved to open a private office, which unfortunately does not take my current insurance so now I am looking for a new GI doc to handle my crohns disease.  I live in Long Island but will travel to the city if needed.  I was hoping to find someone who specializes in IBD.
Thanks
Christine

hi...I found a really good doctor in Mount Sinai in manhattan as a matter of fact there are a few of them. I go to doctor Thomas Ullman.... you should go to the crohns foundation web site. good luck.

I use Drs. Katz, Tepper, Bonnapace and Fung Liu in Great Neck. I was referred to them by a co-founder of the CCFA.

There are many a GI in the NY City! My IBD Daughter moved from Michigan to NYC/Lower Manhattan almost 2 years ago and hooked up with GI/Immunologist Dr. Lloyd Mayer out of Mt. Sinai (212-659-9266). She loves him, but downside is he is only in office a couple days a week and he doesn't take her insurance but her Remicade has been covered. I think she said his Office is somewhere in Harlem area(?)

I have a pretty extensive list of 120 NY GIs that I printed out from www.castleconnolly.com It tells what each GI's specialty is, if they accept PPO/HMOs and their credentials.

Hi Jodi
I made an appt for next week to meet with Dr. Katz. I understand they do alot of studies and clinical trials. Do you mind if I ask you if they have a facility to do the remicade treatments there? Also, do you know if Dr. Katz is they type you can ask questions to and will listen?
Thanks !!

They perform the Remicade in their offices. Stacy (the remicade nurse) is wonderful. She is a fellow crohnie and remicade patient herself. I've dealt with all of the doctors in the practice and really love them all. They take the time to explain things and don't try to push you into anything that you aren't comfortable with. Before I went on Remicade, Dr. Tepper took a good 30 -40 minutes with me and my husband in his office explaining all of the pros and cons of the remicade and 6mp. After years of bad doctors I consider them a god send.
