Adding all this iron has made me realize I am now in high rise construction!  Limits my D and I swear I can smell iron :-)
so here goes Randy...

I added some iron
To my bodies environs
Now isn't this swell
the metallic smell
the meds cost so much
to be gone with a flush
but you won't see me frown
as the TP goes down
sweet revenge on my spouse
I have stunk up the house!

Ok, another one

Today there is going to be a change

in the blasted weather

please don't think me strange

or start looking for a jacket of tight leather

My CD built barometer has me walking on eggs

because a major storm is within my leggs!

For all my brothers & sisters with the arthritis part of our DD.

the pain in our knees
might make me sneeze
but hope there's no chance
I then wet my pants

we should have these kind of threads more often. You inspired me to write one about the difficulty i faced with fistulas and my girlfriend:

i tried to explain to her
the depth of my pain
i said - well babe:
its just kind of weird
more so than even
a woman with a beard
she said i don't get it,
why does it hurt?
it's seems like you don't trust me
i mean, you won't even flirt!
i told her, it's not you!
it is all about me..
and my own
in---security
i said to her babe,
i said to her, dear
it's the fact that i have...
these weird holes in my rear!
she said, oh wow, oh wow! can i see?
i said, no way
not at all honey
no way, not now....
i can't show you up close
not till i take this darn next dose
then maybe things
will get better with me
and you won't have to wonder
what's wrong with Natty
you know i don't care
come on, just let me see
so i did
and, well, the holes
still bother me!

OK guys,I can't resist...
I decide to write a short poem about how most of my family accused me of having an eating disorder when I first starting getting real sick. So,here goes...

Once upon a time,before I was sick
Let's just say I was chunky,I wasn't a stick!

Then out of the blue,I got the big D
What in the heck is happening to me?

The weight came off fast, what could I say
I lost 30 pounds in 30 short days!

Next came the remarks & a wild accusation
My family didn't understand my health situation

I wanted to scream,I wanted to shout
"Don't accuse me of something you know nothing about!"

I'm not anorexic just cause I'm skin & bones
So in yo face family, the diagnosis is Crohns!!!!!!!

GladBag,

I think every male patient here feels THAT pain. ( Heck I got that right before I started having classic CD in my very first relationship!)

Matthew

Thanks Dude,
Though weirdly I've kept having flashbacks to my first relationship. Hopefully the pain is trying to remind me just where I went wrong back then. But even if it nearly killed me back then, it did break my origional emotional blocks ( I don't think Melanie even realized why I ended up being grateful. There was a lot of guilt going around then in the selfish '80s). Well, I was a self-centered, insecure, defensive idiot too.
And then I got sick the final year on top of it. Honestly, it was the stress bringing Mr. Crohn's out of hiding to.
Anyway, this one is aware of my health problems & not running away. YET.
..

Sincerely,
Matthew

Back to the poetry now!

Why am I seeing red

in my boxer shorts?

I don't want to end being dead

Face down in the dirt

biting teeth hard in my T-shirt

How to cope with the fear?

No one MUST see how that hurt

emarassment & dignity lost

such a hideous cost!

Hmm,
Is that all our budding talent?
Me, Randy, & a few others?
Surely not!

Matthew...I was published in Whos Who in poetry in high school!! Actually it was a scam to sell books, but it was fun to have a teacher put in my work.

Most of what I am coming up with are a little rough for public use (no swearing but the words are not politically correct). I will have to work on some imagery without the 7th grader gross out words!!

LOL.
Habs, all those things are so funny. I have an ENTIRE book of unfinished poems, a good many prose ( surprisingly difficult to write, other than classical sonnets). Ack, unfinished book ( curse you Tramadol & Lyrica I get fuzzy fingers.)
But I didn't much concentrate on direct emotions. I loved making pictures with the words..
Need to remove an 18 year writers bloc maybe?

Matthew
We need more in the post.
Its not that hard gang..

Matthew, I'll trade you. I'll help finish your book of prose, if you help finish my musical that has been sitting since first year college (we won't say how long that has been!)

In the silence, what had I heard?
The sound...a single falling turd
Landed with a splash
it fell from the gash
And now a second and a third

No way! My talent ends with the written word. In fact it ended a long time ago, as far as true art anyway. (It would still be nice to get that published, though few would read it.). Nice suggestion though!
