I've had a cold for 3 weeks now and it doesn't seem to be getting better! I've taken vitamin C and quit running, even rested all last weekend but I still have it. I wonder if it is the Remicade? I've been on it for almost two years and this is the first illness I've had but I never had trouble with a cold for more than ten days.
Bad fissure Feb 2005, still have it January 2006. On Pentasa and Imuran 100mg. Some slight swelling and ulceration of terminal ileum. No other symptoms. Now on Remicade!

There is a particularly nasty virus going around this year. The upper respiratory symptoms hang on for a long, long time. All three in my house have had. The two other-wise healthy ones were still blowing noses and coughing two weeks after getting it. Everyone I know has had it.

That said, I got a cold when on Remicade and it turned into pneumonia. If I had gone and gotten treatment when I was in the bronchitis stage, I might have not gotten so ill. Those on Remicade have to be hypervigilant when they get an upper respiratory thing going on. Sounds like it's time to visit your PCP.

I would definitely see your family doc/PCP. A simple cold can turn into something much bigger and nastier while being on remicade. I never take the chance when I get sick because every time I have waited to see a doc it has screwed up my next treatment. You can't have had an infection or fever or been on antiobotics within 10 days of a treatment...and usually antibiotics last 10 days so there is 20 days out of the 8 weeks that are used up if I get sick. GOODLUCK!

This cold lasts for an average of 4 weeks - it also comes with a high percentage of infectants having bronchitis.

I still have phlem after 2 months. I underdstand from everyone at work that this is par for the course with this particular cold.
32 years old. Diagnosed in 2002ish.
Taking Asacol, Lomotil TID, and on Remicade since 2004.
Lower Bowel area only, except for the short stint (about 2 weeks) that I had mouth sores.  Also have external/anal fistula and anal/vaginal fistula.

I was on Remicade for 3 years and had trouble with colds and sinus infections the whole time.  Doc said it was a side effect of Remicade.  I did do alot better when they switched me to Humria.  I would go to doc before it gets any worse.

Diagnosed in 91, Had 5 surgeries(2 hernias, gallbladder, colon resection, adhesions)  Taking Humria, Pentasa, Prevacid, Sublingual B-12

I have been using Remicaid for a few years, I think it lowers your immune system, I have and use those anti bacteria loitions all of the time on my hands to prevent contracting colds, etc. , even at home, it seems to help me. it's worth a try.
