I find often that I will talk to someone or read something here about vitamins or medicine and think "are they over-reacting" or am I just overlooking some important signs and symptoms. For instance I was talking to my DIL and she said she gets terrible heartburn from B-complex pills. All of a sudden I thought "how long have I been having reflux and heartburn issues"? I was blaming the pred, and motrin previous to that. I also met a friend recently who gets palpatations and a fast heart rate from a full b12 shot. Hmmmm, I have that also but it was there and a major prob when my level was very low. My HR also sped up when I would stand up. Some of this has not resolved and not I have to see if it correlates with my shots. Anyone else out there with the same situation? I am mostly a skeptic, sometimes to a fault, but I really would like to throw all my meds away and start over.

I know what your DIL means about heartburn! I've noticed that I can get heartburn from any vitamin w/B complex (at least that's the part I taste again!), but have found it is exacerbated by coffee or orange juice in my stomach. It's probably the acid in those that makes it worse. Also, that kind of vitamin should always be taken with food (after a meal) to avoid this. If I take mine with food followed by a digestive enzyme, I never have heartburn issues--as long as I haven't just had my morning coffee, that is!

Hi there!
I try to only read the BARE minimum of any drug side effects.
Being a very medication aware nurse and anxiety type I do not want to read
anything too deeply because I will freak out and then panic over thinking "crap"
I am having that rare fatal reaction. So the best advice is just be aware of the common side effects, knowing they are normal
and call the doctor if anyting feels really wrong. We know when something is wrong.
Hope I helped a bit.

I can take B12 shots with no problems. But if I take a B12 supp in pill or sublingual my gut gets really sick. I can't take multivitamins, even childrens vits without getting sick to my stomach. And thats even when I take them after a meal. So I only do the B12 vits via shot.
Been living with Crohn's Disease for 32 years.  Currently on Asacol, Prilosec 60 mg, Estrace, Prinivil, Diltiazem, Percoset prn for pain and Calcium.  Resections in 2002 and 2005.  Recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and doing tests to see if I have Inflammatory Arthritis or AS.

My plaquinil makes it so I have no interest in eating-but if I don't eat the plaquinil makes me so nausious I can't stand it. Those aren't the type of side effect you can be oblivious to.
On the other hand I rarely notice any effects from any of the other meds I take.
