I have had a successful ileostomy for 13yrs.  Originally I had a Total Colectomy for Chron's Colitis.  I have had no symptoms since.  My stoma has begun to retract and I just had a revistion of my ileostomy.  The stoma is now larger and doesn't retract.  I am 3 days out from surgery and am wondering how long it going ot take to recover?

eelane,  I'd like to extend a warm welcome to you on your first visit to Healing Well! To help you get the most out of the Crohn's  Forum please take the time to browse our threads .

Regarding your question, closure of small bowel stomas  usually happens around the 10th day post op, however this is entirely an indivual healing process.

Please keep positng and let us know how you are doing.
