This topic is in correspondence to Crohnie8's "Weight Gain and constant Diarrhea" topic.

I'm curious what we feel is healthy for height/weight and gender/age and why or why not....and where we are at with our CD (i.e. Flaring, having D or C, meds, etc.)

I'll start off by saying:

21 Female
5'9.5" and currently at 172lbs.

I'm comfortable at 145lbs. I feel like there is less strain on my body and mind at that weight.

My med list is below. I feel like I am on Pred. I am having constant diarrhea and doing moderate exercise, but have gained weight.

I think I am going into a full-blown flare though -- tests are coming back not-so-good. Hmmm...

Thanks for reading/posting....

I am female 5'4" 135.6 26yrs old and i feel horrible as well. I dont have no water diaherra but have soft stools. We are trying to get off steriods and see if this humira will work. Got bulges and legs look huge. Almost like when i was at a low weight my legs looked thin i work out and now they are bigger but the fat doenst get burned off it stays put. I want to be back at the weight when i was flaring 123-125. Close fight loosley and stuff. I am working out 5-6 days a week but cant lose a pound.

There was a time when i was flaring with diaherra 10-15 times a day and working out hard with a trainer and i couldnt lose a pound. Eating healthy and everything. I go in and out of hospital 5 times in a year and in a week time was easy to drop 10 pounds. My lowest weight was 123 in may and in sept was 125. That was going from 80mg of predisone(may) to no predisone in september. My problem is when i drop my steriod to 20-10 i gain weight. But anything higher than 20 i was losing weight.

I m on humira and pentasa (6pills a day) as well. On 4 mg of sol medrol which is like 5mg of predisone. Hopefully dropping will be successful and will be off this stuff by march. Tricia

I'm a 5'4" female and have always been overweight. I'm holding at 195 right now. Even at my worst I didn't lose weight and was up to 245. That is why I lived with this dang disease for so long. How could I have Crohn's and not be losing weight?

I'm only on pentasa for my Crohn's

I'm not a big eater at all. Stay around 900-1200 calories a day and still have a hard time losing weight. I usually don't gain weight the 2 times I've been on pred but I was only on it for 6 weeks at a time. I really tried to control what I ate at the time.

Currently on 4000mg of Pentasa only for Crohn's

5' 5" female weighing in at a healthy 115 lbs at the age of 40, I don't eat any junk foods/beverages, processed foods or sugar or animal fats and I work out regularly with cardio and weights with good defined muscle tone considering my age and having 2 kids and not working out my whole life but always being on the leaner side.

I am 5'7", 125-130 lbs. I am happy with my weight but not always happy with its distribution. I have toothpick looking arms and legs and a bloated flabby belly that muffin tops my pants. When I work out I tend to lose my boobs before the belly. I by no means think I am fat and know that I am at a healthy weight but I want to lose the fat from my belly and put it on my arms and legs.

I recently started cutting down carbs and sugars and walking more frequently and hitting the gym to weight train once/week. I know once/week is not enough but with my school/work/commute schedule it is all I can do unfortunatly. This lower carb/sugar route is the only thing helping with the bloated fat belly.
26 Year old married female.  Diagnosed w/ CD 3 years ago, IBS for over 10 years before that, which was probably the CD.  Currently on Pentasa 4 pills/4x day, hysociamine prn, nexium, and ortho evra.  Good times!!!

I'm 5'2", 26 yo female, currently about 98 lbs. Trying to slowly gain a few more back. I was at 106 last June before I was hospitalized and lost 10 lbs. I've been thin my whole life but lately doctors tell me I need to gain weight or I will have trouble getting pregnant (not sure about that, never tried yet).

I was diagnosed with CD in January but had symptoms and liver problems going back to early last year. No D or C, luckily I have not had fevers in a few monts but I feel mild discomfort on my right side most of the time. Currently I'm not on any meds, want to wait until I find a doctor I can trust. I'm trying to go on EN in the meantime...so far I don't think the formula I chose agrees with me, but we'll see. I'm trying to exercise more often but it's tough with my work schedule.

I know exactly how you feel.  At my initial flare I was 95lbs. (i'm 5'1").   I look at pictures from that time and see my collar bones sticking out, my chin was just jutting out.  I looked gross.

I'm now 5'1" / 147lbs.  I was up to 160lbs, my goal is to reach 130lbs.   yeah THEN I'll get pregnant and start all over again.   sad

I'm 26 almost 27, 5'6" and 150...recent weight gain caused those ten pounds and I don't know where it came from, but I am comfy at the 140ish range that I have spent most of the last 10 or so years at...so I am almost where I want to be anyways....just need to lose 10, but thats my comfort zone, I know everyone is diffferent and we should just stick to what we like and all.

Thanks for all the responses so far!

I'm glad to see that I am not the only one who is uncomfortable at my weight.

I am a 27 year old female. I am 5'7'' and 207 lbs. I am on the larger side, but I had a baby six moths ago. I want to be in the 160 range. I am in a major flare and I was just put on prednisone which was mentally hard, but only 30 mg's per day. The biggest struggle are my clothes not fitting. I also like to think I am wonder woman and my body just threw me back into a flare to remind me I am not. I am hoping to lose some of the weight by summer, but I am not going to push so hard that it kills me. I am learning that there' more of me to love and I am not a normal 27 year-old, I am special and get to deal with CD too ;) tongue

I am a 24 year old female, I'm 5'7" and currently at 267lbs. I have always battled with my weight. Kinda wish i could have lost weight with my crohn's it proably would have been the only silver lining lol, but alas I did not. However due to having crohn's and having to change my daily routines and eating habits I'm sure i'll be down to a healthier weight. Since i've been pretty much overweight all my life it's kinda scary to think that i will become thin as a side result of being diagnosed with crohn's, but i know it's a good change, and i'm looking forward to being healthier.
