Entocort+grapefruit

I was thinking about having a half grapefruit for lunch.  I haven't had any for months.

if memory serves, grape fruit is an odd fruit where it messes up your meds - it can cause too much to be absorbed or too little. i think entocort comes with a label saying do not eat grape fruit when on this medication. lucky for me i am not a fan of that fruit so i never ate it while i was taking entocort (or any of my meds for that matter). if you want to eat grape fruit, i suggest speaking to your doc or pharmacist about it first.

I know that grapefruit is certainly a no-no with certain types of chemotherapy.

i am on entocort and was told no grapefriut or anything with grapefruit juice now i have to read even more lables when grocery shopping...aaarrggg lol

Grapefruit can slow down the activity of the liver enzymes that metabolize drugs into their inactive form (Entocort, Lipitor, and many others). That leads to too much of the active drug in your system, and you can develop more severe side-effects and/or even fatally overdose. If you're on Entocort...Maybe a little bit won't hurt you...not worth the risk...eat an orange instead? :)

uh oh, now i'm worried...i have a whole grapefruit for breakfast 3 times a week (for the last 3 weeks since I started the makers diet)....I'm currently on Prednisonse...any bad effects there?

oh and also, I haven't noticed any ill effects...in fact I've been feeling great
