I can't seem to wean myself off of Entorcort. I feel pretty well when I'm taking 6 mg, but when I taper down to 3mg, my symptoms come back (back pain, cramping, unable to sleep due to pain...). Has anyone been on Entorcort for longer than 3 months?

I've been on it for 6 months and have just tapered to 6mg last month. Going for another appt on Monday and I'll let you know if I'm dropped to 3mg and what the result is.
Pentasa 500mg/8x daily down to 6x 1/08; Entocort 3mg/3x daily down to 2x 1/08; Percocet/Ultram for pain; Protonix 40mg
Neurontin, 900mg 3x/day
Probiotic
Ferrous Sulfate 325mg/daily for anemia
Azathioprine 150mg
Currently on a Low-residue diet as of 11/26

I'm so tired, when will this get better?

My daughter has been on Entocort almost nonstop for two years. The only time she went off was in July 2006, which landed her in the hospital.

So after being given pred via IV to stop the flare she had to start all over again on the Entocort: 9 mg for two months, 6 mg for five months and then, since May 2007 she has been on 3 mg every day. And she has been in full remission with no symptoms since Jan 2007.

Ya I have been on it close too 2 years and GI has promoted this down to 3 mg every second day and still in Remmision since i started.  Seems In Canada they are using this more and more for long term remmision.

I live in Greece and I have been on Entocort twice, one time was for 4 months, but as soon as I stopped it I had stomach pains again.  Now I am on Entocort since July 2007 (7 months), taking 6 mg currently (2 pills).  Entocort seems to be the only medicine that can give me a normal life without pain and lots of bms.  I don't know how long I will be on it, or what the long term side effects will be, but I want to enjoy every single day of my life, and I'm not willing to quit....

Thanks for your responses.  Life is always better when I'm on Entorcort - I sleep better and eat better (and I love to eat and sleep) and have more energy.  I saw my GI yestereday.  He told me to go back up to 6 mg for another 3 weeks and then try to taper down to 3 mg.

ski bum,
I have been on Entocort since March 2006. My GI tapered me off of it twice and both times I got partial obstruction and several abdominal pain. Entocort seems to be the best way to handle my inflammation, I know that every body is different though. But for me Entocort is a God send. I was on 9mg per day but am on 6mg per day now, I will stay at 6mg cuz I know from experience that if I lower it to 3mg per day I will be hurting.
Good luck!
