After 14 months of almost non-stop flare-up, I'm finally feeling pretty good for the past week or so.

Why? Unclear, but:

Massive doses of Prednisone (just tapering down to 35 mg yesterday).

Maybe my 3rd Remicade Infusion finally got that medicine jump-started. My doc doubled the dose to 700 mg after the first two infusions gave me zero results.

At any rate, I'm still zoned-out from the Pred -- kinda dazed and confused, red-faced, swollen face and ankles, aching muscles, worried about bone decay and other side effects.... but at least some of these symptoms are diminishing.

But man-oh-man -- just the ABSENCE of that cannonball obstruction in my gut and all the cramping, misery, etc. that goes with "atypical Crohn's" -- I swear, I couldn't even remember what "normal" felt like.

Not entirely norma, of course... but close. And no, I don't expect this to last, but I'm enjoying this rare break from the misery....

I just wanted to share that with y'all. Most of my posts have been complaints (I'm sure there will be more). But I did promise more than once that I would report the good news here as well.

Anyone else have recent good results from your meds, alternate treatments, or just plain downcycles of the flare-ups? If not, just gripe and groan -- really, it's OK. I'll listen with a sympathetic ear...

Happy V-Day!

Only in its absence do we fully appreciate the misery we live with.

Congratulations Terry. Enjoy the easing of symptoms and look forward to that feeling of vital energy that will flow as you begin to move towards wellness.

I know what you mean Terry! I feel so awesome right now that I wake up every morning and just say thank you to God. I know too not to get too comfortable but I am going to enjoy it while I can. I am weaning from 40mg of pred. and am down to 5 and 10 alternating days. Boy don't the side effects stink. I have been on it since nov. 5th and just called my doc today to see if we can start tapering again before I see him in April. But Ill take the fat red face if it means I can actually leave my house without worry of the crohns!

Congratulations and stay positive!

I have been on the makers diet 3 weeks now and feel better then I have in 3 years.

Oddly though, it is all alien to me, I dont even know when I need to go to the bathroom cause there is no pain to let me know.

I have a second of fear right when I wake up waiting for the pain, and then a minute passes and theres none, I actually find myself wondering what I should do if Im not wrapped in a ball of pain.

I am just glad to be having a different set of problems, ones including feeling normal physical things again. Weird for sure.
