Hello, I am writing here in hopes to get some advise on a problem I have been suffering with.
It started last week, I felt bloated, stomach pain, nausea, and stools not moving( I am a crohn's sufferer so usually don't have constipation, usually the opisite) well called on call Doc on Sunday
he told me he would let my doctor know what was going ton Monday when he got to the office.
Well monday I got a call from the nurce that he wanted me to come in for abdominal x-rays. He saw that I was pail and looked run down so he worked me in. He got the results back on the x-rays and said I was impacted. He said I was also dehidrated. He send me home with 2 fleets, 2 10oz bottles of liquid laxitives and told me to try to drink lots of fluids. Well did the fleets, and drank one 10 oz bottle and was drinking, nothing happened. Next day called, oh yes drank, or tried to anyway, other bottle (was so nauseated, hard to drink it) I was then sent to ER where they did a soap suds inama. Not much results there either. So I was discharged with a jug of Gollightly (stuff they use to clean me out for colanoscapy)( spelling??) drank half of that and did have some movements. I had been on a liquid diet for 5 days now so the next day started on no fiber light soft foods. Well  that was Friday and by Saterday was back to hurting bad again and it is now Monday and again have had no movement. Hurting, sick to my stomach, and bloated. Called Doc back and he so far just gives me the impression that it is part of the Crohn's deseiase. Well it maybe but I need releif.............anyone have sugestions, I have missed going on two weeks of work (fear job mightbe in danger) and I need to get to feeling better so I can go back soon. But mainly just want to stop hurting.

Aww, that sounds pretty miserable, I'm sorry you feel so icky :(

I was having trouble going when I was in remission and they had me take Miralax -and- Philipp's caplets each day and that helped.  It did take about 2.5 days for me to be able to go enough to feel better, and I could not do anything other than drink liquids in the meantime.  They had me keep taking both of those laxatives for 2 weeks until I was doing ok with going and eating normal amounts of food, and then I was able to start eating some fiber again and take just one or two philipp's and be ok.  After a week with some fiber I didn't even need the philipp's.  I hope you are able to go again and start feeling better soon, perhaps if you call your doctor again they can try another enema or give you some more of that gollity stuff since you said that helped a bit last time.

You poor thing!  I went through much the same and also got little help or compassion from doctors.  It was recommended to use the same phosphosoda that I had used for colonoscopy prep.  That did nothing except cause more pain.  Did another dose after 24 hours.  Still nothing except a lot MORE pain.  Stool softeners, suppositories, nothing.  The laxative wanted to work.  Every 10-12 minutes I had urgent and painful spasms that produced nothing.  I was screaming at my husband to put an end to it, and I meant it.  My ER kept telling me that they could do nothing for me unless I came in.  Like I have another $300 for the co-pay.  I kept asking what they would do for me.   This is what they said:  I had followed all recommendations of the stool softeners, laxative, prune juice, warm water etc.  The only thing left was to remove it with digits.  Well, I wasn't gonna pay $300 for someone to put their finger up my arse.  So, with latex gloves I waited for the spasms.  Each time I had a spasm with the urge to push, I 'dug' a little more out.  Sorry I'm so graphic, but it worked.  There was kind of like a cork, and when that got penetrated things just wooshed out with immediate relief.

I'm sure many will disagree with what I did.  But being one of the fortunate people with health insurance and still spending $16,000 out of pocket last year I had a choice.  Loose the house, or stick the finger.  Before insurance I was sick, now I'm sick and broke.

Miralax seems to be a favorite for many these days.  Drink as much water as you can.

Well just wanted to let everyone know I am doing better. Spent 4 days in hospital to get cleaned out. I was not a flare up of my Crohn's but just the oppisite. Doc asys I went the other was more toward IBS. He has taken me off most of my meds and has me drinking Mag sulfate 8 oz a day, Medamusil 2 times a day, and has me now on Librex for pain and to keep me balanced. It may take a while but he has all hope i will be better soon. Thanks for all the help and replyes.

Diagnoced with Crohn's in 1999.  Battling with it ever since.
